Hey Everyone, do your pc parts match any event, time, or something personal?
I made a 2009 Style PC.

dank meme theme

No theme really, but it's in a silent windowless case because I don't want any distracting flashy leds around. I like my pc and peripherals to be clean/plain looking.

>2013 nov, my first decent salary, got me my current desktop: i7-4770K, watercooling, 32GB RAM, HD 7990 VGA, 960GB SSD, 2x3TB HDD, MSI Z87 MPOWER mobo. CM Storm Stryker case

>960GB SSD
what SSD, 960 is a weird number

...why?
I made a PC to waste money
This is my main rig. I call it the "what the fuck is wrong with you" theme because mixing AMD/Nvidia, in addition to an old as shit GPU.
This one's theme is budget performance

>that ancient ass case
At least put a piece of cardboard or something so there isn't a gaping hole on your faceplate.
>>56552786
No way, it'd clog the air flow. I've been thinking about a piece of an old sport shirt as a dust filter, though.

Here's my other PC, its theme is normie.
Got this mainly for Virtual Machine stuff, wanted to get into digital drawing more as well since my old machine wasn't very good at it and kept hanging when doing anything in Krita at all.
Maybe some gaming on the side as well eventually but I tend to do emulation in PCSX2 and Dolphin and such for the most part as well as older consoles.

>virtual machine stuff
>quad core mainstream CPU
if you say so senpai.

getting a 5820k or 6800k + motherboard and additional ram would have set me back another 500-600 and it wasn't really worth it for me honestly.
I'm stepping up from a Phenom II 940 without an ssd and 8 GB of ram so this is blowing my mind right now.
>>56554013
A 5820 costs the same as a 6700, it might have been 50-100$ extra for the mobo.
>>56554013
I payed $290 for my 5820k at microcenter, cheaper than the 6700k by $20. X99 is a bit priceyier than Z170, but only by $50-75.

Not trying to shit on your build or anything. 6700k is a fine CPU, but for VM type stuff the 5820k/6800k would've made a bit more sense.
>>56554116
It was more because of budget restraints, with an X99 build I would have gone way over budget and a 6700K is way better than I used to have anyway.
It's mostly for dicking around with linux and emulation and whatnot.
