i got one and its shit
it was fun to build and tweak the first year or so but now it just stands in a corner
never printed anything useful with it

It's certainly fun to print stuff. It's hard to find practical use for it, though.

would you buy a drill press for "fun"? a 3d printer is a tool, and requires configuration and maintenance. if you have 3d design skills and regularly need custom plastic widgets, obviously they're very useful. if you don't, they're a waste of time and money.

I wanted one of those industrial ones that have been used for decades already and can print with metal.
Would be fun as hell.

There is the cheapo Peachy Printer that you can tinker for fun before the industrial stuff. idk if you print very often or have need for super detailed stuff like cosplay.
