Anyone got some experience with 4k monitors? I kinda want one but I suspect everything would look fucking tiny on anything below 32" or so.

Yes, I have a 27" 4k display, games and movies look great but if you want to do any work you probably want a 30"+.. it's still readable though

Meh, looks like I'll stick with 1440p for the time being.
I'd you're a gamer, 1440p is the sweet spot for now as GPUs that can play games at 4k 60fps cost a fortune. Personally, I just got a 1440p 144hz monitor because I prefer frame rate over resolution and 1440p is good enough.

I dunno, 970 GTX can handle pretty much all games at 4k (not at ultra though, but maybe at high).. I think if you even get a 1070 you can run most games at ultra 4k

that what scaling is for , fucking shit man.
Yes things do look tiny with no scaling, but the crispness of images remains constant no matter how much you scale since you are not making the the physical pixels any bigger.

This only happens if you use an OS with shitty DPI scaling like Windows.

If you want a stable 60fps at 4k, the gtx 970 would probably need to run games at medium to low. Especially since higher resolutions use more vram and the 970 has the 3.5 meme.

nah scaling is fine in windows.
Besides the pixels are so small that you can't notice if one pixels in the wrong spot or not.
Some programs on the other hand are not coded well and just run without any scaling, but those are fewer and fewer these days.

Any word on cheaper 1440p 144Hz IPS panels?
>>56536065
Dunno. But high end TNs aren't bad at all. I got the Dell S2716DG for $500 and am totally satisfied with it.
text actually gets more readable because of more pixels
think about how shitty pdfs look on a 800*600 screen

I'd really rather have IPS. Are there any available with good quality control?

I'm not sure. I just know my unit came to me how it should (no light bleed and stuff).
