This is called carrier-grade NAT and it is necessary until every lazy sysadmin has learned what IPv6 is.

That's odd. I thought the pass overrides the IP as the way to identify you, and is treated separately for bans.

What I do is this:
Computer at home, connected with DSL, serves as a proxy. I use the Firefox add-on FoxyProxy to route only requests destined for "sys.4chan.org" through this proxy.

It's enough to route sys.4chan.org -- this is where bans are checked
