I've been rooted for a while, but I always knew there was more.
Had a spare droid 4 laying around so I decided to grow some balls and try installing Cyanogenmod for the first time.
Been to scared to do it to my main in case I brick the device.
I'm so glad I did. It's so free and clean and nice. I can do anything I want and everything can be changed to my liking.
So anyway... I've got some apps like adaway and a hacked pandora one, and I need to get around to installing the zip for xposed module so I can run youtube red for free, but what are the real must haves for CM?
>installing pajeetmod
literally worst custom rom these days

CM is dogshit. Why? I'll fucking tell you, this is the internet.
CM is updated for hundreds of devices, and most of them have nothing more than buggy, fucked up nightly releases.
Get a rom made by a smaller dev team who dedicate their efforts on it and it alone. You'll appreciate the difference.

What do you guys think of Replicant?

This is terrible advice and it is probably coming from a shill of some half-assed rom that is trying to compete with CM.
Don't be some burnout small team devs gunea pig, OP. You'll end up a ROM that ends up getting abandoned. CM is good and so is stock--just use whatever your prefer. I think it depends on the phone you're using. Buggy fucked up nightly releases can be a thing, but that is normally affecting phones that are irrelevant, and it is also very rare
For must have apps, that is highly subjective. I'd recommend trying some F-Droid apps for stuff like ad blocking and some other misc maintenance stuff. I wouldn't personally use xposed with any custom rom, but that's just my opinion.

DESIGNATED

...Then you go to another one?
