Currently studying Javascript for a foundation in programming concepts.
I plan on moving on to Java development. But I dont have any idea what an employer would look for in my skill set.
I am considering making 10 designs to show I understand the principals of the java language... but I dont know if thats good enough to impress.
So, in Java Programming - what would you create in your portfolio to show a employer?
Or am I looking at this completely wrong? Thanks.

Restful API using Servlets and an admin page using JSPs
Strong concepts of object serialization, ORM's (hibernate), fault tolerant design, and input sanitization

If you don't know what any of that is or where to start. Just give up.

Or just do everything in go.

That's because you don't have any talent.

Fizzbuzz in at least 10 different ways

Copy-paste a dozen random github projects and shuffle the code a round a bit (think obfuscators) then claim you did all of it when you were 5. Worked for me.

I think my answer is crank out android apps that are skinned from the comfort of my home office.

After reading it a bit more... and noticing the tiny scroll bar for the page. I am looking forward to the challenge.

Are talented people born knowing what restful APIs, servlets, JSPs, and all that shit is?
