Now they have all these people sitting like in their 1984 commercial (youtube it) blindly following.

>>56507091 had a pretty good point even though it got deleted for some reason

Apple knew how to market shit, they knew how to make their brand and their products memorable, they knew how to make them exciting. They have a regular product announcement schedule, they put on a show as well as a reveal.

Dell doesn't, HP doesn't, IBM didn't, few other vendors really got it this way, they didn't give a shit about their own products as long as profits were maximized, so they continued to build a bewildering variety of 80 different sub-models of the same boring copycat trash engineered by focus groups and specifically tailored to every corner walmart. Nobody was there for the Pavilion dv6525us, or the Precision M4300, or the NetVista A40i, or whatever, because even the fucking vendors didn't give a shit about them either.

>The irony is that they wanted the exact opposite in the beginning.
no they didn't, the counter-culture bullshit was a fucking marketing stunt like anything else, taking advantage of the fact that their primary competitor (in their minds) was a textbook megacorp/cult/satan and especially considering apple hardware during jobs' first tenure was always built with mass consumption in mind above all else (the entire fucking idea of the Mac, for fuck sake)
>>
>>56507143
I dont think there's actually an "Apple of gaming"
>>
>>56508069
What's always been really bizarre about Apple trying to claim the "counter-culture" mantle is that they're not and have never been some poor little beleaguered indie startup. There was a time in the early 80s where Apple dominated personal computing, and they fucked up and lost out to Microsoft (which was at the time a tiny bunch of software merchants) for no other reason than their own incompetence and snooty refusal to form bonds with other vendors.
>>
Because Apples biggest user base is women, and women are basically sheep that do everything for the sake of appearance. The only men who use apple products are betas desperately trying to impress women.

There is no anti-apple cult, you don't know what that word means. What makes people compare applefags to a cult is the worship of their products.

The worst experience I had with Apple was falling for their memes sometime when I was an underage. I don't really think it was that they were trying to look like an "indie startup", compared to a juggernaut like IBM they were pretty much nothing, especially in the workplace.

> and they fucked up and lost out to Microsoft (which was at the time a tiny bunch of software merchants) for no other reason than their own incompetence
Microsoft was hardly a "tiny bunch of software merchants" at that time, having supplied BASIC to pretty much every large and most small hardware vendors, including Apple themselves. Do you think IBM came to them to out of charity?

Apple didn't really "fuck up" anywhere in this respect, there was nothing they could have done. They didn't have the name, which was the entire reason for the PC's (and to a lesser extent Microsoft's) success in the first place.

I love Mini DisplayPort. Also, by using only type C on the macbooks, I'm hoping it will increase the amount of computers with USB Type-C ports and the number of Type-C products.

Sadly, this will happen too to the headphone jack now, and whereas from the end users perspective Type-C and 3.1 are functionally identical, wireless headphones need charging and apple might be leading us to an era of nothing but proprietary headphones.

I rocked a iPhone 6s for a year and I can tell you the only redeeming feature of the fucker was the battery. I couldn't bluetooth transfer files, couldn't have custom ringtones without paying for them, couldn't make a phone call with out it dropping, couldn't even save all my pictures, when I went to back the fucker up it encrypted all my data (even when I unchecked the box). Thank god some bitch traded me even for a Samsung Galaxy s7 edge.

> Just like IBM.
Have you never heard some variant of the phrase "Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM"? Just look at PCs, those things were fucking trash but they built a massive software base and sold like hotcakes on the logo alone.
