Hi /g/. What is a good torrent client for Windows? I'm currently using Deluge but it sucks and it's awkward.

If you're on private trackers:
uTorrent 2.2.1

If you seed to at least 1:1 on public torrents:
uTorrent 2.2.1.

If you hit and run:
qBittorrent.

I can kind of understand using it out of laziness if you've been using it for years and have 500+ torrents seeding, migrating something like that can be a lot of work.
But recommending it to other people ?

Actually I've most likely been torrenting for far longer than you have.
I've been on private trackers for at least 11 years, and used public trackers long before this. I also hate Stallman and his hypocritical cult following.

Meanwhile, you're actively recommending a several years old version of a torrent client with known security holes to other people.
µTorrent isn't the only client that exists on Windows. Deluge and qBitTorrent are both better choices.
Alternatively you can use fucking rTorrent on Windows if you so desire, now that WSL is a thing.
Stop recommending µTorrent to other people. Use it all you want, but do not recommend it.

Known to your imagination. You're quite good at inventing beliefs that support your philosophy. The rest of us live in reality. Your "bitcoin miner" that uses 0KiB of RAM, 0% CPU, 0% GPU, and 0% network is 0% meaningful. "B...but you can't see the source code so you can't PROVE it's not there!" So you're saying you believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster. You want to wear a colander on your head? Go ahead. But don't tell everyone else they need to simply because you believe it.

Yes, yes, we know, it's literally "everywhere" but GNU plus Linux. EVERYONE'S infected... and the "evil" FDA has even banned antibacterial soap so we can't even disinfect ourselves anymore!

We'll get right on this terribly important issue.
>>
>>56505200
Install gentoo. No seriously. Install gentoo and use rtorrent.
>>
>>56509399
What exactly are you trying to defend here?
>>
>>56509398
After recheck, yes.
And if you move or delete the file later it will helpfully redownload it again, too.
>>
>>56509343
Yes, yes, I can't prove a vulnerability in 2.2.1 specifically.
But do you >>know<< that it is safe ?
Have you looked at the source code and verified that there are no security holes ?
No, you haven't. Yet here you are, recommending an ancient client to someone looking for a new torrent client, when there are better alternatives in active development around.
This is on the same level as recommending that people use Windows XP as their main OS. Sure, it MIGHT be safe with all updates installed, but the fact remains that whatever vulnerabilities it might have will never ever get patched, and once some Russian out there finds them he might not tell anyone.

There is absolutely no reason to recommend µTorrent 2.2.1 over qBitTorrent or Deluge. It provides no benefit over these two. On the contrary, it leaves the user with an outdated closed-source torrent client that, for all you and I both know, may or may not be a swiss cheese of security holes that will never be patched. And that's exactly what's wrong with actively recommending old software like you're doing right now.
>>
>>56509509
So much this. I'm so fucking tired of all these utorrent retards claiming that all problems are solved by using a five year old version.
>>
>>56509509
>in active development
i.e., actively developing new security holes to exploit as they add useless features.
You shill qBittorrent when the developers can't even manage to properly implement basic functionality. "B...but it's open sores so it COULD be audited!" And that's going to help you how after you've been pwned? Sure, let me just update every week from their Fosshub that keeps getting hacked. I'm sure that's going to be more secure than running the same executable that's held up against every attack for 5 years because it only does one thing and it does it very, very, very, very, very well.
