Do you use ElasticSearch?
Is it good?

Sorry we as /g/ know only html and basic javascript.
Yes I do.
Yes it's pretty good.
Is it like Yacy or something? Sounds like it.

I cant persuade my boss to let us start graphing/searching shit with logstash / elasticsearch
>>56500963
Have you tried it yourself though?
How RAM-hungry is it?
>>56501524
It wont run on a 2GB machine.
And having to shard for larger datasets isnt ideal.
depends what you want to use it for.
I wouldn't use it for any very large data sets (100GB+)

I suppose its not an issue if you build a small cluster just for elasticsearch, but i wanted to test it on a single machine
isnt Spark better tho?

td-agent > logstash
I want to use it to email us about errors and login attacks, but never got around to it.
>>56503643
Does the search function work reasonably well though?

fucking this. I've been fighting this dumbass manager for this shit for months. I don't even get paid for doing this. I am doing him a favour. And after him agreeing to pay for it, he turns around and tells me he needs (another) business value document to be filled in.
I'm about to just drop this shit - turn it off and delete the VMs. All the developers and SMEs that depend on it can suck my dick.
