That's the point. Making the software isn't the feat here, it's making people actually use it. It doesn't matter that Google did it first, because Google doesn't advertise their functionality, they don't let users know that it exists, and they don't work with merchants en masse to get them to support the platform. Like it or not, the future IS wireless headphones. In 10 years the idea of connecting your headphones to the source by cable will be laughable. Apple is the only company with enough influence to kick everyone into gear and improve wireless tech. I think they are focussing on wrong things to improve upon and have chosen the easy way out. Upgrading a hardware, putting in a faster chip, increasing memory and so on doesn't take much, it has already been perfected and is just a repetitive process.

The real improvement that helps people use their technology is in how they interact with it and how it helps them in day or day lives -- AI. Siri is well and dandy but it is no where near of automating several of daily mundane tasks. Why aren't tech companies investing more of their time and resources into it? Because it is hard. Wireless is a good/nifty and useul alternative, but it should never be made the only thing driving an aspect of a product until it's perfected.
