is is everyone insane? It has been proven the human eye can't see beyond the pixel density of retina displays, right?

It's not good to have invisible pixels wasting your battery, and Apple engineers know this.

Text definitely looks sharper on my HTC 10 than on an iPhone. Take your memes and hang yourself.

But anything above 1080p at 5 inch is overkill. I will admit.

that's why apple customer never will be able to do VR cardboard

Is this why everyone with an iPhone still frantically looks for power outlets come lunch time?
>>
Tbh I think 750p is fine for that size. Might be worth bumping up to 1080p. 1440p would be dumb.

They're gonna need every power saving design choice they can get with the tiny batteries Apple put in those things.
>>
>>56492157
But can you prove it? take a screenshot and compare.

>>56492157
I agree with you on that last part
I can't see any difference in resolution when comparing my opo and s7e. The s7e screen is still nicer but for different reasons.

What's the point of using 'desu' in a sentence like this? fuck off normie

well at least its Retinaâ„¢ :^)
>>
I'm not a big fan of Apple but it's completely fine. There's no point for 4K or even 1440p on a 4" screen, albeit 1080p would have probably been better.
>>
Why can't everyone just use 1080p? :v

And I guess 2k for Virtual reality memes

i bet you think that human eye can't see beyond 24 fps too

no need for more invisible frames when you already have it all good and cinematic

Apple devices have 60FPS faggot.

No it hasnt been proven.

What the notes are at for the last 3 generations would be fine if it wasnt for vr. Why the fuck isnt the note7 higher.

retina means that on normal usage (40 cm use distance) you cant identify single pixels

Yes, it has. Go look up how the human eye works.

>citing sources from 1946

the biological and neurological understanding of how we perceive light has changed dramatically in the past 20 years
>>
4k oled displays are the future of phones, apple fanboys will defend that shit.

If you put a 1080p phone into a cardboard vr, you can see the pixels due to the magnification, so more pixel density means a clearer image in vr, it also means that you can get better video game graphics, and watch 4k movies.
>>
>>56493717
>i bet you think that human eye can't see beyond 24 fps too
nice false equivalency, faggot.
>>
>>56495734
>the biological and neurological understanding of how we perceive light has changed dramatically in the past 20 years
Sot hen why don't you give a us a source showing how you can perceive higher pixel density at normal viewing distances.
>>
>>56492116
>invisible pixels
I'm on an s6 edge and I want even more. Why? VR. 4k phones when?
>>
>>56496469
there's no way to effectively correlate pixel density and eyesight since they operate on different principles

you can attempt to do it using some EXTREMELY rough approximations using angular resolution but applying that type of measurement to the eye is really not a good reflection of how it works.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airy_disk

using point spread function is a little better but still doesn't get to the heart of the problem, which is that when dealing with light particles and neurochemistry, we have entered the realm of quantum physics at which point all of our classical physics approximations break down and we don't actually understand what we are working with in terms of eyesight complexity
>>
>>56492163
you're buying the wrong laptops friend
>>
It's a phone.
>>
>>56492157
not if u want to use your device for VR, then you need atleast 4k for 720p image quality, if you want 1080p u need 8k (but thats not realistic by todays standard as of yet). There will be decent 4k phones coming out next year.

Apple fags said they didn't need a screen higher than 4''.

Then now they're claiming that shit res is good enough as well.

So whenever Apple introduces some Ultra Retina res (144p or 4k) on a later iPhone, we'll be back to square one.
>>
>>56492068
The human eye can't see more than 720p 30fps 60hz anyway
>>
Fuck off vr shills it's a fad that will die soon
>>
>>56493717
>>>/v/
>>
>>56495479
No, "Retina" is a term that apple uses however the fuck they want because they bought the trademark.

And what the fuck does that even mean, "identify single pixels"
>>
The 7 is the smaller phone. Why would you need a high resolution on such a small phone?

The7+ has a 1920x1080 screen
>>
It's a fuckin phone you know
is it taped to your fuckin face or what?
>>
>>56497212
