Because the app makes a recording of the screen and doesn't use the camera API. Therefore it's limited to your screen resolution. Pretty lazy IMO, but it's better for the purpose.

So the way Snapchat takes pictures is by taking a screenshot, the way a good camera app works is by taking a picture.
Snapchat resolution: screen resolution.
Snapchat pic size: a few hundred kb.
Camera app resolution: how many MP your camera is.
Camera app pic size: a few mb.

Alright, can anyone tell me how to add images from gallery to My Story? I mean I know how to do it, but everytime I add them they have this white border around it with "from camera roll" on it. And I have some people on snapchat that add cool photoshop designed snaps to story and its always full screen.
