I see this everyday in my CS class
>>
>CS
Enjoy your future colleagues.
>>
>>56485811
>CS
>not EE
You asked for this.
>>
I dropped out and just started sending portofolios and code demonstrations to companies, cant tolerate the morons that apply in CS
>>
>>56486276
Have you gotten a job this way?
>>
>>56486624
They don't hire you directly but take you as "partner" and you get a wage similar to those who are wagecucks. Unstable (can lay you off anytime) but pays well
>>
>>56486624
No he is busy posting on /g/ and /pol/ complaining, basically a snake oil saleman equivalent.
>>
>>56486730
whatever helps you feel better about being a loser my man
>>
>tfw just went into second year of CS
>considering switching to CE, which at my university is very hardware heavy

I don't know whether to do EE or CE but I want off the CS train.
>>
>>56485811
after year 1 it'll go away. Don't worry.

Just graduated last december (fuck its almost been a year...) and in CS100 there were close to 70 kids, first week 20 dropped, only about half ended up passing. CS200 is like a leap harder (100 was just basic programming in java, 200 dives into OOP) and only about 20 people made it through there.

There are lots of weed-out classes throughout CS. Discrete Math, Calc 2, C Programming, etc at my uni were the main ones.

It'll get better.
>>
>started with 70 kids
>but has a real CS program
Do you live on a remote island?

My uni just curved the fuck out of the classes where about half the kids were failing.

ayyyyyy post secondary education being run as a business to maximize profits instead of to produce educated people

I wish I was born yesterday. Kids are going to have it so good.
>>
>>56485811
>gets decent grades in some field or other
>decides to specialise in that field
>apparently this pisses /g/ off

Can someone explain to me /g/'s logic here?
>>
>>56486924
that's nuts. holy fucking shit that's just the exact opposite of what should happen.
>>
>>56487008
Most people on here are just nasty pieces of work.
>>
>>56485811
Can someone explain to me what's wrong with googling that?
I've never used Java

Enjoy your capitalism. In the land of the free, even the prisons are for-profit megacorporations
>>
>>56487060
honestly theres nothing wrong with googling recursion, but i think it's poking at not being able to implement recursion even after understanding the definition, thus having to google "how to program recursion" which you really shouldn't have to google since it's just a function that calls itself.

We had ~350 people in my bio 101/102 classes when I was still premed

Easily dropped half after the first test

Literally less than 70 in each by the end of the semester

Garunteed Employment.
>>
>>56486953

Just drop out right now, you obviously have not put enough thought into college.
>>
>>56486924
>>56487019
It's possible that the curve was based on the final so people who did well with an easier professor will have their grade go down.
>>
>>56487209
It wasn't. My friend ended up with 100 in the course, when he was getting 90s on his exams. They do not reduce people's grades; only raise.
>>
>>56487193
im not in college yet i moved out of my parents house at 18 got a job as interpreter and become stable and now im starting to become ready for college
>>56486999
had a cs class my senior year
i shit you not this was our first week
>computers talk to each other in 1 and 0
>you can express more than 2 numbers using only 1 and 0
last project
>make any kind of program using any language
>btw you can use scratch :^)
i genuinely wanted to die
>>56487192
kek thanks. ill just google it but ill probably go into it if it is that good
>>
>>56486788
Not at my university.
Someone on the discussion forum for my Operating Systems course just asked this gem:

Title: /var/log/syslog
Body: Trying to submit my assignment but I can't find the 'syslog' file. Where is it?
>>
>>56486999
You might live long enough to get a VR waifu.
>>
>>56487477
kek
>>
>>56486711
how much did you make in the first year, gross?
>>
>did great in high school cad courses
>go into college with goal of bachelors in industrial architectural design
>class is the same shit as highschool but with logistical floorplans
>drop out
>get a job with Mitutoyo with resume reference drafts alone

High school courses can help in certain areas. The videogame design class actually had 4 students branch off and go straight to Sulake a year later to work on habbo hotel.

>I see this everyday
I don't see this everyday. What I saw once in my CS group (Yeah CS, because it was just 5 people in my CS class that we had classes with the IT group) is a bunch of illiterate faggots who want to be a CS major but can't even do SYMBOLIC LOGIC AND VISUAL F BASIC!
>>
>>56487477
Maybe he's using systemd.

Seriously if your uni is teaching you obsolete outdated crap like rsyslog instead the the current standard journalctl, I'd take a long hard look at the quality of the department and program.
>>
>>56487714
We're using a standard Xubuntu VM that the university provides.
>>
>>56487770
wow a vm? that class sure must be advanced!
>>
>>56487097
The cost of prisons are still passed onto tax-payers.

It's a two-way road with privatized prisons. The populace still ends up paying for it out of their pockets while the individual owners reap all of the benefits. The Riki-Oh manga and OVA (not the stupid live-action movie) foretold the consequences of privatizing the prison industrial complex.
>>
>>56485811
>CS
>not math
>>
>>56486779
CE is the degree of the future. You'll be able to do stuff that EE grads and CS grads can do, to an extent.
