Am I safe transporting my computer 50 miles by car on the freeway if it's in the original packing box but only GPU removed? I got a NH-U14s on my CPU and while it's held up fine just sitting here, I don't know how well it will do in the car.

I have an android, and Lightning just isn't working with i2p.
Every time I try to switch to it in general settings, I just get the same message, that i2p needs to be installed and running, and the asks if I would like to install it, even though it is already installed and running.
Even worse, whenever I say yes, it doesn't give me anything, just that the app or whatever wasn't found.

Also, setting the proxy to localhost and setting the port number to 4444 doesn't work very well in lightning, if at all.

I decided to put my 3tb external to work and do some torrenting on it, because I heard this can be done.

So I installed transmission on the drive, loads alright, downloads fine, but then I get some error message about the drive no longer being mounted, and then when I restart the application it has to download the last 10% of all my files over again eventhough I have the whole thing? And then if I leave and come back it says its unmounted again but I can browse to it and everything is there?

Not sure, but maybe. I think it's a matter of thinking of what else they could add to the phone that the majority of people would use. For easy common use for everyone, you already have entertainment available from multiple apps and sources as well as personal use such as Internet, cloud storage, and a camera to record whatever you want. Not saying it's not possible, but what other features could they add (no headphone port jokes, it's already obvious)? All I can see them doing is just adding a better battery and screen as the technology changes and advances. There's not much point to changing the interface either since it would only cause people to relearn how to do the same things again. I think they are just using the headphone port removal as a way to garner attention, but I'm just speculating.

What I find odd are a lot of the written articles talking about the headphone port removal. A fair amount of them are saying the removal was long overdue or "finally/at last/about time" and such. Review sites have performed a ton of different benchmarks to showcase the longevity of the 850pro. The 840pro sustained 2.1PB of written data before dying. That's slightly more than 80gb of writes per day for 7 years.

I'm currently using an 80gb Barracuda 7200.9 with literally over 40,000 hours of powered on time and it's working just fine. It has one uncorrectable sector and one pending sector but otherwise seems to be operating without a hiccup. I'm switching to an SSD soon anyways but I've been using this shit as a boot drive for a little over a decade IIRC and it hasn't given me any issues whatsoever. Don't ask why I'm still using it, it's completely arbitrary at this point. The rest of my PC is a 4670k and 980 Ti so it's not like the build is old.

Heyoo, I want to upgrade both my Motherboard and CPU. Now here's the thing:

I want to get a Intel Xeon haswell but the motherboards are a bit dated. I want to get a Skylake xeon but the motherboards are limited / expensive and a bit dated in terms of features.

I'd like to have Hyperthreading for the cash i'm paying, mainly for video editing purposes.

However the Intel i7's are a bit more expensive for what you get compared to Xeon's.

Or I've got the last possibility, wait for AMD zen to save some cash on the whole upgrade.

Is it legal to import Gunn diodes from Ukraine or the USSR? I can't easily source them in the states. I have a feeling the few places that manufacture them only sells to companies and not individuals.

My power supply seems to be a little fucked. It's about 6 years old so I might just buy a new one if this cant be fixed.

Anyway, the problem is that if I turn my computer off, it wont start back up when you press the power button. The only way to get it running again is to completely drain all the caps by unplugging the PSU, holding the power button for a couple seconds and then plug the PSU back in. Of course I dont do this all the time, I just keep it at sleep mode, but obviously I'd like to turn it off at times too without this shit.

I talked to my EE friend, and he told me the caps are probably leaking or there is some solder that has came loose and suggested putting it in the oven for half an hour.

What do you suggest? Would the oven trick work at all? I cant really be assed to take it apart and replace the caps either as I dont really have the experience or tools required to do so.

How do I sabotage a computer?

My roommate loves to leave his PC on for no reason at all (I've checked, thought he was just hiding something but no) but he won't listen. Even told him to at least use Sleep or Hibernate mode but still he won't listen. How do I sabotage his computer to make it look like it broke on its own? I've been using ext4 for as long as I can remember. When I started fucking around with different distros, it was new, and it was the file system to use for whatever reason.

Am I being retarded? Is there any benefit to using Btrfs, Reiser4, ZFS, or something else on a standard HDD?

Does it just come down to personal preference, or are there real world scenarios where a code jockey would see an improvement?
