Honest question for someone not too tech savvy. Why can I buy a 40+ inch 4K TV for around $350, but 27 inch 4K monitors cost in upwards of $600+?
Probably because smaller ones require a screen density that can't be produced as easily.

Because of PPI and 4k monitors usually use IPS panels and not TN

Ok thanks for the replys.
Denser = way fucking harder to make.
I can by hand create a 4k 10 foot by 10 foot display by arranging some through hole LEDs.

so why is it that between monitors with the same resolution, the one that is larger is more expensive?
>>56480693
Because smaller ones has a LOT more panels out there in the market.

Shipping
There is a curve
Cheapest will be the ones that are both easier to make, use less material, and are easier to ship

>4K TV for around $350
yeah that panel is going to be shit though and you're buying purely memes at this point

Are you fucking memeing the OP? There is no truth to this.
And if this was true phones would cost $7000, as they have tiny displays with huge resolutions. And with a phone you're not just buying a display.

Let me extent on that question a bit: Why can I buy a 65'' TV for $679.99 but a screen without TV tuner, no audio and no stupid smart TV OS costs $1,764? I really hate this world.
