What VPS provider do you use?
>>
>>56462961
DO is a good one
>>
>>56462972
This.
>>
Ethernetservers.

You can leave me a reply with a thank you when I just gave you a really good provider with cheap prices. You are fucking welcome.
>>
>>56463005
EthernetServers is complete garbage, and you only have to read some reviews to figure that out.
>>
>>56463187
>reviews
>complete garbage

I used them to host a website, game server (arma 3) and a Wolfenstein ET server (and a few others) all within the same VPS. I never had an issue and my server always had good performance.

Don't try to discredit my post just because you're a shitter,
>>
cloudatcost is okay for the $10/lifetime server.

they are shit though, so dont expect 99% uptime, its good for a quick and dirty vpn/websites
>>
>>56463187
Working in the web hosting field, I can tell you reviews are meaningless because the people who leave reviews are idiots.
>>
OVH is pretty cheap and good since they don't respond to US authorities.
>>
DO and OVH

Is volume drive still the cheapest???
>>56463317

hetzner

Can't really find a better offer in Germany, not with their new series of ultra-cheap SSD-backed Gigabit vservers
>>
>>56464178
Also, one of the things I look out for when choosing a VPS provider is how often they do maintenance on their servers.

If it's never, then they're probably incompetent “fire and forget” shitters that don't respond to security threats. Nothing makes me more nervous than a VPS provider that never restarts their vhosts.
>>
RamNode
>>
>>56463447
Time4vps
>>
>>56464160
Nope, Aruba is cheapest.
1€ monthly for a VPS with
single core CPU
1 GiB of RAM
20 GiB of storage
>>
>>56463553
Ramnode
>>
>>56464178
you mean the hetzner that handed out the cock.li HDDs to law enforcement and refused to cooperate to get them back? that hetzner? great choice!
>>
>>56466312
kek

any articles about it?
>>
>>56466323
http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2016/01/cock-li-server-seized-again-by-german-prosecutor-service-moves-to-iceland/
and a bunch of other articles in German
they actually seized the servers twice because they only took one of the two HDDs the first time
>>
>>56466312
I don't follow. Aren't they just complying with german law?
>>
>>56466202
That looks way too cheap. What am I missing?
>>
>>56466370
there's a difference between "following law" and "not returning the hdds for months because lol we can't give you any info"

I still don't give a damn, it's ok for most of my purposes, I can use it as a torrent machine (both seeding and leeching) and ran game-servers
>>
>>56466379
shit cpu, shit IOPS and shit network?
>>
I like BudgetVM. Currently using them for my VPN because it's $35/year for 1 CPU/512MB ram.
>>
>>56466601
Bandwith limits?
>>
Vultr with OpenBSD.
>>
>>56466471
Yes. It werks but it's not great. H@H is all about storage size, especially since static ranges, and not bandwidth.
Expect around 1.5 - 3 hath/day. Block storage might change that but they're still not availabe in AM yet.

Zero DMCA/Complains/other bullshit in ~2 years btw.

That's what I wanted to hear. Thanks.
>>
I currently host two websites for less than $50 a year. I get around 5k visitors a month, and I'm working on a new website that I target at 30k visitors/month in a year. Is it worth getting a $VPS at DigitalOcean for my current sites + the new one, and host them all on the same VPS? The sites are quite small and don't range over 300MB at the moment.
>>
>>56467719
From memory I think you can upgrade your DO VPS if you need more CPU/RAM. The cheapest VPS goes for $5/month.

What type of site are you hosting, and does it generate income?
>>
Got a couple.

Want a bitcoin paid one, but they seem liked they are overcharged. Oh well.
>>
>>56462961
OVH
thinking about renting one of 100TB's VPSs in Dallas so my latency to my VPN isn't complete ass
>>
>>56462961
I've got two sites I built with DigitalOcean.Really like the barebones feel to it.
>>
>>56466658
2TB/month
>>
I use DO and Vultr. Both are good but be aware that Vultr has no easy way to set up a domain name like DO does.
>>
>>56468466

a year
>>
>>56468682
Linode also says 2 tb transfer, is it really yearly? What do when its used up?
>>
>>56466268
That Aruba VPS costs 4.99€/mo not 1€.
Did you get it on a promotional offer ? Even then the offer never lasts more than a year.
>>
>>56468871
Not him, but this says 1€: https://www.arubacloud.com/vps/virtual-private-server-range.aspx
>>
>>56468766
monthy
>what do when its used up?
following is near bottom of linode.com/pricing
What happens if I exceed my monthly transfer quota?

You will be invoiced $0.02 for each GB over your pooled network transfer quota. Please note that all inbound traffic is free and will not count against your quota.
>>
>>56468933
Thanks mang :^)
>>
>>56468871
source?
i call it bullshit check their website
>>
RamNode (OpenVZ, 128MB, 80GB HDD, $15/year) - small static website, XDCC bot, irssi, personal proxy
LowEndSpirit (OpenVZ, NAT 128MB, €3/year) - Japanese proxy
VirMach (KVM, 512MB, $8/year) - LibreSonic

Digital Ocean is fairly expensive compared to alternatives. Is it popular because of the name/brand recognition?
>>
>>56467938
Both sites generate an income of around $700 a month combined. Both are affiliate websites. My current shared hosting isn't bad, but I mainly want a faster loading speed for the sites. Is the cheapest DO package enough for a small site with just text and images?
>>
>>56469187
shit, i guess you don't need that much RAM for proxy.

do you do ssh proxies or did you do a dedicated vpn setup?
>>
>>56468682

My bandwidth resets down to 0 every 1st of the month on BudgetVM, don't know what your talking about.

Now I sound like a shill for some company, thanks for making me respond 4/10.
>>
>>56469203
Just Polipo. I don't use the proxy much anyway.
The RAM usage of the VPS is 7.5MB.

>>56469203
It's probably way overkill for a static site.
>>
>>56469281
Meant to reply to >>56469221 on the first one.
>>
>>56469281
>>56469295
ah, mostly use ssh proxy since i'm too lazy to setup something else.

thanks for info anyway, will check out some of those vpses you mentioned.
>>
>>56469281
It might be overkill, but if I can host three websites on the VPS for around $10 a month and it vastly increases the loading times of my pages, it would definitely be worth it.
