Ok /g/ I dont come here often but I need some help. Let me explain:
I was recently looking to get something cheap to play CS:GO on my down time without having to lug around a desktop, one of my friends had this old lenovo Y40 - 80 with a broken screen on it, he sold it to me for 30 bucks.
I got the laptop home, wiped the drives and did a clean install of windows 8.1, installed all the updates needed and optional. Then I removed any GPU drivers that windows may have installed in the process of updating and getting the laptop situated ETC...
I did a clean installation of the GPU drivers on lenovo's website for THIS LAPTOP. But for whatever reason it is choosing to use intel's hd 5500 internal GPU. I then tried wiping all INTEL and AMD drivers and only installing the AMD ones. Still didn't work, except now it was using the microsoft basic video adapter drivers.
TL;DR

OP again, im also getting this when I try to run catalyst control center.

Check your power saving options, make sure its not bipassing to save power.
Also check bios settings a re prioritising the gpu.
Also try having both drivers installed but disabling the intel.

Thanks, I have tried the power saving settings. Tried doing performance settings.
Tried the bios, there is an option for switchable graphics, and another for memory shared graphics. I tried both and neither worked.
I have also tried having intel and amd drivers installed.
I cannot believe that this shit doesn't work lmao. this is ridiculous

Yea I dunno, try uninstalling both drivers and using 3dp Chips reccomended drivers(Theyre often old and stable).
Just don't install any tool bars while gettiing 3dp chip.

Used 3dp chip recommended drivers and now the gpu is being recognized, but the driver name is null?

But 3dp chip would have had to pick up its presence to install it?

Still didnt work, im using a 32 inch HDMI lcd TV as my display, could this be the reason its choosing to display using a different GPU? Maybe the discrete card doesnt support the resolution of the tv? im not sure right now, still going through drivers like nobodies business
