I can hit between 70 and 80 wpm with minimal effort but I only use 4 fingers, the index and middle fingers specifically. Reason for this is that I learned to type from gaming and you don't learn to type properly in school here.

Should I learn to type properly or is it too late after all these years?

Okay so that's with the phone on a table. I picked up the phone and used my thumbs and got a 23 with way more errors. This is good evidence for why touchscreens are garbage and ineffective for quick co.munnication.
