I need to buy a laptop in the next 2 months, and have no idea what to look for.

I use a PC at home but use an iMac/miniMac at work, was thinking about getting a Macbook but im not really sure(don't really like OS X that much). Any suggestions?
Don't necessarily need the most expensive laptop, but i want something good that i can use for couple of years.
Got 700 euro right now, but as i got 2 months to buy it i might spend up to 2k.

I've got a 2011 15inch mac, if you're looking something hassle free that will last a fair while, go with mac. They truly are the lesser hassle(doesn't mean they're better though)

All of the programs you're going to be using are CPU limited, so whatever you get make sure it has the fastest CPU possible, everything else doesn't matter as much. A nice display is of course a bonus for graphical work, some business laptops now come with options for 4K IPS displays.

in the 2 years at the company im now i needed to replace my iMac twice because both of them randomly slowed like 800%. Could use it perfectly for few hours, and then it would start lagging. Or it would boot up already lagging (opening indesign took 10 minutes) and then be fine after a restart just to completly freeze 20 minutes after i open illustrator lol.
Don't know if i got a new one or if they just 'repaired' my previous one (was working on a minimac then) so i can't tell how prone they are to making problems.
But a good friend of mine has the newest iMac and a older macbook - both work perfectly, even Ableton/Logic is no problem.

Invest in CPU and RAM, both will be used heavily.
I prefer a matte screen instead of glossy for actual photo work as it's closer to print.

I'm also looking for a new laptop. Something around 600-800, recommendations?
I'm not a hardcore gamer or anything, but I guess it shouldn't exactly explode when I try to run one once in a while. Other than that I just want it to be overall solid, have longevity and a good screen.
