Is this good advice for a poor person wanting a decent setup?

You called?
Two B300 15" powered full-range monitors + 2 B1800X 18" subs powered by Crest V1100.
>bought pic related at Value Village as a backup amp
>Sony STR-DE598, 6-channel home theater receiver
>90 watts x 6 into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz)
>yet I have to run it at ~50/74 (not sure units, but 74 is max) for any decent volume
what's the deal?

Is the volume better when you play a radio station using the built-in receiver?
What kind of speakers?

>volume better when you play a radio station
yeah, using FM I can run it at ~20 and get the same volume, more or less
and I have a few pairs of speakers, all book shelves. Energy CB-10, Energy 2.1e, and Mission model 70. the sensitivities range from 87dB to 92dB (CB-10s, what I'm using right now)

If the FM volume is better, I'd guess your source is putting out a weak signal. If you know the source is good, try connecting it to a different input.

my headphones are pretty quiet even when directly into my pc..
thanks, I'll give that a shot
Already have Yamaha HS8's,
Looking for a new Audio interface since I blew up my Scarlet 6i6 when trying to replace the USB socket
Might be looking at either a 18i20 or a RME Babyface Pro
Don't have many hardware instruments but I'm after fantastic mic preamps for my AKG c414 B-ULS Mic

I got out the sound meter a few days ago and turned it up a little bit. I was seeing peaks around 125dB. I still had at least 6dB left to go on the audio interface volume knob, and the monitors' volume knobs are set at 12 o'clock.

That's interesting. I replaced the USB socket on my 18i8 (bought second hand)... I wonder if they have some known issues with shitty USB sockets.
>>56448049
Yeah i'm not sure why it sucked so much
Pretty sure they were using shit-tier pin connections to solder the USB to the PCB meaning they'd fall out of the silicone when trying to replace the socket
Might just scrap it for parts
