Pic related. In pic it is housing a radeon 7990. Only thing is if you want good cpu cooling or a lot of hard drives, this isn't the case for you. You'll be running either stock cooler or a 120mm AiO for the cpu. Can fit up to 3 ssds. Or 2 and 1 3.5" drive. The 2 ssd mount points take up the DVD drive though.

It's usually a $20 difference over an average size spinny drive and gives any PC at all a noticeable boost in startup and file saving/loading
The price/Gb is literally the only reason to stay with HDDs

>>
>>56440979
Because people are dumb. If your budget is so tight you can only have a 120GB ssd, then get a mech 1TB drive hands down. Other than that, ssd is like night and day compared to HDD for everyday use. Boot times no with standing, even bargain bin ssds are much much faster than even the fastest mech disk. Seek times are drastically improved so there is no more waiting for anything. I can literally have my PC start cold, have Firefox, steam, and my remote desktop connection up after 10 seconds of hitting the desktop. SSD storage is so cheap now, there really is no reason to NOT have one.
>>56441019
Not a meme if it benefits you. Only people who claim SSDs are a waste or meme are those who have never used one.

I do a lot of video editing and I can say the difference beteeen using a mech disk or ssd as scratch space is leagues apart. Render times are faster, everything is. Even 2 mech disks in raid 0 can't compete. Then you also have to worry about array failure. Plus the problem of disk noise etc.

There is nothing obviously wrong with your build.

If you care about saving money you could cut cost on your HSF / Mobo/ Case/ Ram

You probably don't NEED 16gb of ram or a Full tower or one of the best Nocturna HSFs.

But if the cost isn't a problem. You're good to go.

Any criticism is welcome.
>>
>>56441267
Exactly, do that and make it your boot drive, and since HDDs are going way down in price since the market is dying, use a cheapass spinny for data that isn't time intensive
The most noticeable difference is boot times, but if you save and load huge files often, an SSD is without question worth it

In a need for a cheap and reliable Graphics Card

I already got a PC, I just need a new Graphics Card, because my old one doesn't work

My CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.00 GHz

My motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. M68MT-D3P (Socket M2)

RAM: 4.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 669MHz (9-9-9-24)

PC Case: Thermaltake V3 Black Edition 1x120mm

Power Supply: A.PFC 550W FAN12 Ci-POWER CWT

Screen: Samsung SyncMaster S23B300, 23", Max resolution: FULL HD

I'll only use this card for browsing the internet and playing YouTube videos in FULL HD, nothing more, those are the ONLY things I'll do with it

The only 2 things I want from this card are:

1) It needs to be reliable, I want to use it as many years as possible

2) It needs to be the cheapest card possible (Taking in mind the fact that I want it to be reliable, and to use it as many years as possible

Thanks a lot!

-- Corsair hx760 PSU
-- Corsair Vengeance LP ddr3 8gb RAM (x2)
-- Corsair Carbide 300r case

I wanted to get an i7 6700k, but I learned I would also have to get a new mobo and ddr4 ram, which significantly runs up the cost.

Would it be better to keep using my old parts and get another Haswell-e cpu and upgrade the other lacking parts or go for the Skylake and 'future-proof' the rig for newer Adobe and Autodesk programs (Photoshop with 30+ hi-res layers and Unreal run like bricks on this build).

>>
>>56441610
Skylake is a decent chip but coming from your haswell setup, not worth the cost. With your board/chipset, you're pretty much locked in as to what stuff you can upgrade. You have to ask yourself this. What are you doing with this PC? Just gaming? Video editing? Architectural rendering? If not, an E series CPU and setup won't benefit you. If you do have need of more cores, then grab an X99/i7-6800k (6c12t) over a z170/97-6700k(4c8t). Going from your 4770 to 6770k isn't really worth the cost.
>>
>>56441691
a shit load of boards offer USB-C now. Only like 1 or 2 ports of course as USB-C still isn't standard. I think even the antiquated 990FX chipset for AMD has some recent boards out now with USB-3.1/C.

Just go on Newegg, look for your desired chipset, set price range, and find one.

if all you're doing is watching 1080p and browsing, the GT710 is your best option. So long as the card is passively cooled and not some garbage 40mm fan model as they're extremely loud, and the fan is another point of failure for the card. Pic related. They even have the audacity of charging an additional $5 for the worse heatsink and shit fan. If your case has even a single low RPM fan on it, the 710 will barely reach 60C even when doing a lot.

>>
>>56441773
He says he is only web browsing and streaming 1080p video. Not gaming. Why give him a card with cooling fans if he is going for longevity? Just something else that will start to grind and stop working after 2 years when the bearings in the fan die. More performance is irrelevant if the anon isn't gaming. Passive cooler nvidia card would be the way to go. I'd say the r5 240/230 if they made half way decent passive models.

I've decided I'm going to buy an RX 480.

However, I have an AMD FX-6300 CPU clocked at 3.5Ghz.
Will this be a problem? Is my CPU too "low-tier" or something like that? Will it work well alongside this GPU? I ask because the CPU cost me $120 in 2012 (now sells for $90), and the GPU is $200-300.
>>
>>56441949
GT710 like he said looks good.
>>
>>56442017
What is your motherboard? Post pic/link? What's your cooler like? The FX-6300 isn't the greatest in regards to single core performance (what matters for many games). You have to make up for this with overclocking. The RX480 is essentially a lower wattage r9 390 in regards to gaming performance and while you won't be bottlenecking TOO hard, there will be some reduced performance because of the lack of CPU.

yup yup, you can even get an app on your phone that you can sent torrents too and it will start the downloads on the NAS. Theres a pile of apps for it although I barely use any of it aside from the VPN server and downloader for torrents. If you wana know how I am doing it I have a nonfree VPN that I connect to and route all the traffic for torrents through it on the first NIC port and the other port goes to my computer.

>>56441277
What if your fans have no build? Come on man, no fans are quieter than having fans.
>>
>>56441949
>Are you 100% that this card will last many years, and will be able to handle browsing and 1080p YouTube videos?

Yes undoubtedly. I paid $15 brand new for a Geforce 210 way back as a display card for the exact same thing you want out of a card. It lasted me in my backup PC for 3 years, and is currently in my little Sister's PC pushing 2 monitors. Well over 5 years of service now with no issues. Also runs cool.

>Additional power is always good, as long as I don't have to compromise on the card's longevity
Problem is the r7 250 is more power hungry as well. Which necessitates a cooler with a fan. Which provides another point of failure.

So long as you dust out your PC every once in a while so the card can breathe, the GT710 should do you fine.

It seems like the R9 Fury is a median between the RX480/1060 and the 1070.

But, the R9 Fury is based on the old architecture. I feel guilty buying old architecture. Is there a rational reason not to buy old architecture? Less driver support? Less OC potential? Higher temps?
>>
>>56442161
Is pic related your motherboard? (They also made a revision with it in black). If so, look up guides for overclocking piledriver. (Fairly straight forward. I had an FX-6300 @ 5.0ghz and my FX-9370 @ 5.5ghz both under custom liquid.)

Your motherboard was important because AMD requires a beefy voltage regulation section and decent northbridge cooling so the board doesn't throw up on itself. Even garbage binned FX-6300's can usually hit 4.4ghz @ 1.4v. Absolute max voltage is 1.55v for AMD and that's assuming you have 100% locked Load line calibration. I popped 2 Asus 990FX sabertooth motherboards pushing for 5.7ghz on my FX-9370. 1.7v+ for too long is bad.
>>
>>56442161
Go ahead, get it then
I will obviously not guarantee those +120fps like those overclocked i7 6700k but the modern games 50-80fps are obviously playable.
>>
>>56442161
and to add onto >>56442244, what cooler/Power supply do you have? Those are VERY important. I'd recommend a Hyper 212 EVO type cooler as the minimum for any decent OC. And if your PSU isn't at least bronze rated and 500w (minimum), I don't recommend OCing at all.

My PSU is CORSAIR HX750 750W 80+Gold.
The cooler is some Zalman-brand one that is pretty eh.
I know the Hyper 212 EVO is the best, however, I wasn't a fan of the way to install it (with the backplates and stuff). I wanted one I could placed right on top of the CPU.

Your thoughts? Thanks very much.

>>56442271
>+120fps
Nah, don't need that. 60 is fine.
>>
>>56441485
Well cases are largely a personal preference. I'm just pointing out a Full Tower isn't really needed unless you're running stuff like RAID or Watercooling. You can fit most dogs inside a friggin full tower. A mid tower would take up less room, be cheaper and still probably fit everything you want. Like a Rosewill R5
Just make sure your case is big enough for your HSF.

In regards to HSF, most are silent. But if silence is a priority, you picked the right brand.
A heatsink fan is only really important if you're going to overclock your CPU. If you're not going to OC then you might as well buy a GA-H110M-A MOBO as it's only $50.
But if you do wanna OC and possibly run SLI in the future, you can still buy a GA-H170-Gaming 3 or B150M Mortar both around $85. That should be even less in Euros, if you can find a seller for that price.

Be careful using an miniITX board though, it makes building a bit harder.
I'd be interested to hear what work you do that needs 16gb of ram. Maybe CAD?
You can run basic work and windows 10 on a fucking toaster.

Hey guys, anyone have a good link for a pirated windows?

Ok your motherboard should hold up for a half way decent OC. Your Power supply is good as well. Zalman coolers while ugly are actually OK depending on the cooler. Just find your thermal ceiling of what your cooler can handle. Use a program like Prime95 blend test to see how hot your CPU gets at stock. If you're even approaching 60C at stock, the cooler isn't up to the task.

Other than that, you'll be good to go. If you're buying the RX480, save a little more and grab a good cooler in the $50 range. I still have the same giant chunk of aluminum cooler I bought 5 years ago for $90. Money spent on a good cooler is money well spent.

Getting Roswill cases is bad in EU. An option would be the Fractal Design R5, similar price, but midi.
I picked a Z170 mobo because future OC and the recommendation from the wiki, i won't use SLI though.
Not CAD, but VM's and other shit in general and since RAM isn't that pricey anymore, why not? I' currently on my laptop and i'm using 7506/8109MiB RAM.

Cool man, thanks a lot for your help. What cooler do you have?
I honestly haven't dusted off the inside of my Rig since January, so it's probably struggling. I was playing WoW earlier and my CPU was at 80C and GPU at 90.

Right now I have Chrome open with about 10 tabs, one of them streaming a video on YouTube. The CPU is at 37C. It was at 55 a second ago when I opened up Speccy though, haha.

i'd 100% of the time go with the 6gb 1060, because it's the same price as the 8gb 480 but it's a good bit faster in almost every single game, ~~15%faster on average
the 1070 shouldnt be compared to it as it's in a totally different price/resolution category
and if you're going for hte 4gb 480 because it's cheaper you should get a 4gb 470 instead, because it retains like 95% of the performance of the 480

>>56446054
I just bought the SINGLE FAN evga 1060 non-superclocked for $250(actually $0 cus everything on amazon is free l0l) and it is stables with a 2050 boost clock. According to some US public education math skils it is 78% as fast as a stock 1070.

NOT TOO SHABBY.

BUT TO THIS GUY >>56445837
>>56445837
I bought this card because it does better in the games that I play most often. Namely Blizzard shit. New AAA titles can swing either way. I literally can't play Dues Ex on max(not that i'm going to buy it) and that kind of sucks. I get ~120fps in Doom on max but AMD does better. You are most likely upgrading for a reason, there is a game you want to play that you can't play now. What game is it? Look up benchmarks.

Also consider that there are great deals on some of the last gen cards. Like the fury for $300, etc.
>>
>>56446100
how about i mix seagates and wd blues?

seagate already fixed their memes
>>
>>56446161
>Namely Blizzard shit.
>You are most likely upgrading for a reason, there is a game you want to play that you can't play now. What game is it?

WoW, I guess. Just re-subbed. I don't really do much gaming besides that, especially for new games. I hardly play new games. I just figure it's time to upgrade my GPU (I still have a GTX 580), as I'm upgrading other pieces, and WoW has the GPU reach 80C. Same goes for other nice looking games on the PC (Ryse Son of Rome for example.).
>>
>>56446149
so it goes like this
6gb 1060>8gb 480>8gb 470
the gap between the 1060 and the 480 is much larger than the one between the 480 and the 470, and even the 3 gb 1060 yields higher fps in most games than any variant of the 480 or 470, but is still an iffy decision because in increasingly more games 3gb isn't enough even for 1080p, so if you plan on not upgrading for a while or just play very demanding games like battlefield one or deus ex mankind divided-because they can need more than 3gb of vram in some cases when fully maxed out- then you'd be better off going with a 4gb 480 or 470
>>
>>56446213
1060 all day nigga.Nvidia is much better in WoW. Same reason I upgraded. Keep in mind that my i3 6100 is bottlenecking the shit out of the card in that game. A 2500k would be way better. On max settings and 100% render scaling I can get down to 45 fps at intensive segments.

>>
>>56446268
>670
im assuming you mean a 1060
and it _really_ doesnt matter which aib you go with nowadays unless you're getting the best of the best of that sku, think and evga classified 1060 versus a zotac amp extreme 1060, because at that level, there is a noticeable amount of variance between them, but if you're thinking of either a slightly low end 1060 evga superclocked or an msi armour the difference is negligable.
also, getting the highest thing availavle in a given product stack-such as a zotac amp extreme- is a meme because they're so much more expensive it would be better to just go up a tier and in this example get a low end 1070

Oh, I got fucked here. The DVI port is DVI-D which means you can't use that vga adapter that cards used to come with and DVI-D cables are like $40 at Staples. I had to connect my second monitor to my igpu for now. It has 1 hdmi, 3 display port, and the dvi-d. My monitors are both dvi/vga.

>>
>>56446526
it's small because the pcb layout allows for all the components to be just kind...smooshed closer together, and the core is cool enough to be fine wiht just a single fan
now as to the same power, in the sense that it will deliver 100% of the fps that a larger version of it would, yeah, you couldnt tell the differnce between this and another 1060 form a benchmark, but in hte sense of litteral electrical power, no, to save space they havent added extra power phases or connectors. read that i said they havent "added" any, not that they took some off of hte original design, they just didnt go throught hte trouble of beefing it up, so this card has the same power delivery systema s a founder board

Not right now. The prices are currently outrageous. You can get a 1060 for $200 and it'll outperform the 480 in most games.

Not really at release, but they do last longer. Also in CPU intensive DX11 games they can be hampered by the driver overhead. GTAV is an example. FO4 is an example too, but you can install a dynamic shadows mod to fix the problem

Are these temps normal? Anything easy I can do to make it a little bit cooler? Is there a point where adding more fans become useless? Or am I better off getting replacement fans with more airflow?

What will I be missing out on if I have to use all of my expansion slots on my GPUs and don't have any leftover? I don't think I need a sound card, PCI SSD, TV tuner, or network or wifi card. Is there something really useful that I'm forgetting?

Dont buy a 970 for 360 wtf are you doing, The next step up is the same price and cheaper for a gigabyte ITX gtx 960
also that cooler should come with paste, shouldn't need a tube of the stuff.
>>
>>56440931
D15, it's like a water cooler but its heavy ass heatsink
>>
>>56449747
You can get a better performing CPU cooler for the price, Cryorig C1 for the top down look. Or a tower heatsink Cryorig H7, shit performs better than the CM 212

Why are you paying so much for a 970? RX 480 or GTX 1060 is a much better choice

Why do you need a Ethernet adapter while your mobo has one already
>>
>>56449779
I just get more paste every now and then if I overclock and switch fans for water cooling, although you're right, most coolers come with pre-applied coats of paste.

I hadn't really considered a gigabyte gpu but I'll look into them, I was looking at ones with gtx 970 and 1070 mainly. 960 seems a bit outdated although it'll should still be perfectly fine for light gaming shit my brother wants and for some cad he has to do. Thanks anon.
>>
>>56449904
Sometimes built in adapters on the mobo are shit. I trust asus but just in case, you know? If it's not needed I'll just use it for another build or stick it in an old inspiron 530s that I'm giving to my cousin if they want it.
>>
>>56449372
Assuming you can overclock it to oblivion (+4.4ghz)

then none bottlenecks
>>
>>56449904
Also I'm still iffy on the gpu, I'm looking towards 970 in general but 960 would do nicely.

Yeah it does seem to have quite better performance according to your pic..... unfortunately it would be about an extra $50-$60 bucks and my local retailer doesn't have any stock.
I've already upgraded just about everything so far from what initial build plan was (keep thinking to myself "oh it's only an extra $50 buck it's cool"..... but have done that 4 or 5 times now) so the budget is starting to get a bit tight.
Cheers for the suggestion though, somethin to think about.

>>56452148
Thatss the case I had initially decided on....... before deciding to spend a little more.
Now I'm no expert here so I may be missing something, but how about you go for a 1x8gb stick of ram for now, then when you have a spare $40 down the road you could buy a second one and just pop it in.
>>
>>56452460
i think a good amount of people probably buy another stick of ram later on when they can. which is probably better in the long run lol. but i read using two sticks instead of one gives a small boost in performance. its supposed to split the stress between them two or something. when and if i ever decide to upgrade though ill probably have to two out my old ram cause mixing and matching 4gs and 8gs can work but "isnt reccomended"

PSU's run best at half their load, so what you have is perfect if you want your PSU to perform at it's best. In addition, if you get a 2nd 1070 and run SLI, then you'll need the headroom.
Overclocking will draw more power too.

Also, you are using a MICRO motherboard. There's really no reason not to use a full sized. MicroITX/ATX are meant for Mini-PC cases. They're harder to work with, especially if you put an aftermarket heatsink fan on; you're gonna have a bad time.

And you will need a aftermarket heatsink fan if you wanna Overclock.

You don't NEED an SSD, but they're pretty cheap. Consider getting one. Most people are impatient.
>>
>>56455185

About CPU lanes.
Anyone know if there's a real world difference between 28 and 40 lane CPU?

I'm looking into getting a 6800k or the 6850k.
There's about a 200€ difference between them and the only thing I'm getting is the extra lanes for that price difference.
I'm not exactly dealing with a super tight budget here, but I don't want to throw money at virtually nothing, if there's no real benefit to this.
I've seen some benchmarks with SLI GPUs slightly benefiting from the additional lanes, but that's about it.

If I plan on using it with one GPU and maybe slap an extra PCIe SSDs there in the future to go with the M.2 one, will the 28 lanes be enough to last me for the foreseeable future?

Just ordered 2 more 4k monitors for a hilariously low price, hope they go through
What GPU should I get for 11520 x 2160
>>

Check out other HDD's, 5400RPM is way lower than the standard 7200. And while, yeah, 3TB is alot of space to fuck about with it'll be incredibly slow.
>>
>>56456089
Will do.
>>
>>56456117
Honestly what I'd go with is a 1TB HDD and then if you need more space go with an external HDD or just buy another 1TB.
>>
>>56456048
Get the Cryorig H7 for your cooler. It looks much better, preforms better, and is easier to install.
>>
>>56456048
3TB HDDs have terrible failure rates, up to 25%
If you're not going to hassle with CPU OC (not early as easy as GPU OC) just get a locked CPU, H110 mobo, and use the stock cooler.

Also get 3000mhz RAM as long as the mobo supports it

>>56455982
4GB

>>56455936
AMD doesn't really have any good CPUs out right now

>>56455713
The 4GB VRAM is nothing to worry about at 1080p.

Here's what I have
http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Q4rhkT
I have 895 burgerbucks and I'm buying my parts on Monday. Is there any last minute upgrades I should tag on and will I have to worry about tax?
>>
>>56456620

Ah cool, how much where they?
>>
>>56455650
This is 2016, 100% of ATX cases are the size on the right, all with absurd amounts of sata ports and PCIe slots
MicroATX is the sweet spot for consumer plebs like us
In fact, for me it was difficult to find an mATX case that was smaller than a mid tower
>>
>>56456938
140 each
>>
>>56456948

Shit son, that's good! What size? I want another 32" 4k to stack above the one I've got so I look like a leet haxxor
>>
>>56456883
Don't buy an aftermarket cooler if you are buying a locked cpu, the cpu already comes with a cooler. The H170 motherboard doesnt support 2400 MHz ram.
>>
>>56455632
>>56456946
microatx and atx are like 2 inches different from each other, they're both "full size" motherboards
You wouldn't call Eatx normal and ATX mini would you?

I thought about upgrading to a 6600k, but it looks like after tax, and now knowing my gpu is out of stock everywhere except for Amazon for like 40 dollars more, I definitely wont have enough for it,
>>
>>56457028

My god, I thought the trend of having >9000 5.25" spaces in a tower was never going to end.
>>
>>56456991
27", i had the same one already from last year, should fit my setup perfectly
>>

If you've got a aftermarket HSF then you probably want to overclock.
There are 2 problems that arise from this.

Firstly you're using a MicroATX mobo. Is this shit a meme lately? It's small/cramped and meant for PC cases smaller than the one you're buying. trying to put a bigass HSF on that small board will suck, especially when it's time to install RAM.
Plus i'm not sure that MOBO can overclock a locked intel CPU. But the ASRock 170 Pro4s can.

I'm an AMD fanboy so I'm not too knowledgeable on intel, Here's a guide:

Consider an SSD

>>56457421
Enjoy your eye-straining pixel sizes, pham
>b-b-but smaller pixels is better
Yes, but it's pointless for larger resolutions when the text on your 1920x1080 windowed screens are too small to read.
>>
>>56457462
We can shitpost all day, but really, as long as your OS has good scaling it isn't an issue
im using windows 7 though, so im fucked

for a mild 6600k OC, what RAM speed isn't a meme?

>Put together all the parts
>Press the power button
>It doesn't POST
>Just boot cycles
Is there a worse feeling?

How do I figure out if the problem is with the Mobo/PSU/CPU?
>>
>>56457844

Take out all of the RAM sticks except one

Make sure you have installed the mobo standoffs and there are no shorts

Unplug anything that isn't required to post (front panel headers etc)
>>
For my potential build, I'm thinking I should switch the 6600k to a 6500 since I'm unfamiliar with overclocking and probably won't do it. Can I swap out the stock fan on a 6500 for a better one if I want much lower temps?
>>
>>56456999
>You wouldn't call Eatx normal and ATX mini would you?
No. I would not. I would call the one with MICRO in it's NAME a Matx. After all, frequently the ram is closer, to the CPU. The PCIe's are closer to the CPU. It has less PCIe slots options for soundcards, wifi, USBs, SSDs, Serial ports, Multi-GPU setups, ect ect.
It's designed for smaller cases and limit's options and usability. There's no point in limiting yourself if hes going to use that size case.

>>56456946
What the hell are you babbling about? What does your preference in cases have to do with what that new builder needs? I like small pc-cases too; but i'm not gonna recommend a new builder try something that challenging.
>>
guys check this shit out

all the parts are of decent quality. and the thing is 600 bucks. yeah its not the pussy slayer 9000, but for 600 this looks like an amazing build
