It's definitely superior to OS X and windows for programmers, web developers, and server administrators. It's also still great for browsing the web securely given that almost all malware is targeting windows exclusively

Also this can be fixed by using KDE; they have their own file uploader which has thumbnail preview on google chrome by default and on firefox if you install the open-suse version.
