As long as it is 144hz, it's a smart choice.
Best TN panel (true 8bit) 144hz 1080p is ASUS MG248Q at the moment.

If you're going to buy one anyway, why wait? It'll be years before the panels are going to be (OLED and) HDR and a somewhat reasonable price.

It's a pretty good time to buy a monitor anyway, not a lot of new good tech coming out in the near future and panels are cheaper than ever.
