It kinda is considering the only advantage of a projector is that you can have a 110" screen but you still need to hang a screen on your wall. A decent theatre setup at that point is big$$$.

A projector setup is much more complicated to do well than hanging an hdtv on the wall and sticking a sound bar below it. A projector with screen will require ceiling mounting and then your AV cables will need to be ran through the ceiling and behind a wall to your AV setup. Even if you're just doing a sound bar the wires will have to go in to the wall and up through the ceiling.
