Newest stable release or latest release from git?
They simplified how options work and this is is how it works now:
profile=opengl-hq
backend=dxinterop
scale=ewa_lanczossharp

Furthermore prescale is deprecated, you have to use user-shaders from here: https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/wiki/User-Scripts#pixel-shaders

Using the latest BitBucket just tweak your mpv.conf from looking like this
vo=opengl-hq:backend=dxinterop:icc-profile-auto:icc-contrast=1000:blend-subtitles:interpolation:tscale=oversample:interpolation-threshold=0.01:linear-scaling:scale=ewa_lanczossharp:cscale=ewa_lanczossoft:dscale=mitchell

to this
opengl-pbo

profile=opengl-hq
opengl-backend=dxinterop

video-sync=display-resample
framedrop=vo
hwdec=no

icc-profile-auto
icc-contrast=1000

linear-scaling
scale=ewa_lanczossharp
cscale=ewa_lanczossoft
dscale=mitchell

blend-subtitles
interpolation
tscale=oversample
interpolation-threshold=0.01

If you are using shaders just add
opengl-shaders="~~/shaders/shader1.glsl,~~/shaders/shader2.glsl"

Sourceforge and Bitbucket builds are a little different in where they read the mpv.conf and input.conf from so try putting them in "%appdata%\mpv" or in a folder named mpv next to your mpv.exe/mpv.com files.

https://mpv.io/manual/master/#files-on-windows
>>
>>56414368
>
opengl-shaders

So why did they change the command to this?

Can you not group together shit with " : " on opengl anymore?

Haasn what the fuck is this shit
>>
>>56414195
I'm going to guess that a PBO is https://www.opengl.org/wiki/Pixel_Buffer_Object

I was getting some tearing before I enabled it, but I didn't do much testing. I read somewhere on the issues tracker that it can improve performance on Nvidia cards and that's what I'm on so I didn't spend much time worrying about it.
>>
>>56414393
For shaders just add a "," between them to group them, most suboptions have been turned into options
>>
>>56414393
>vo_opengl sub-option were always rather annoying to handle. It seems better to make them global options instead. This is simpler and easier to use. The only disadvantage we are aware of is that it's not clear that many/all of these new global options work with vo_opengl only.
>>
>tfw get used to the way things work
>they fuck it up
>have to used shit ton of lines to use what I want to

I guess it's not that bad, since I can # to disable shit simpler.

So is this long lived? kinda enjoyed being able to remove interpolation on the fly.

The deband-iterations option must be an integer: 2:deband-range=12

>>56414368
# Video settings

opengl-pbo

profile=opengl-hq
opengl-backend=dxinterop

tscale=oversample
interpolation
linear-scaling
scale=ewa_lanczossharp
cscale=ewa_lanczossoft
dscale=ewa_lanczosshar
temporal-dither
deband-iterations=2:deband-range=12
opengl-shaders="~~/shaders/faux-HDR.glsl,~~/shaders/CrossBilateral.glsl"

video-sync=display-resample
ytdl-format=bestvideo+bestaudio/best
hwdec=auto-copy
framedrop=vo

Like this right?
>>56413167
Remove the #, they are used to un-comment things (kinda like disabling the line, so that it skips it, basically disabling the option/command)

That's so weird. It increased my Upload frame time from 00400us to 00700us watching GitS:SAC. It also increases Render and Present times as well but not as much.

Mostly use it for sharpening or just try stuff really.

I vo_cmdline "interpolation"                      #interpolation on

Well it increases everything so I don't use PBO. I am using dxinterop backend btw, which provides me with total frame times of less than 8ms, averaging around 4-6ms. ANGLE gives me an average of about 18ms, peaking at 20 or even 21ms and the least I've got was 16ms. I guess PBO is only useful for ANGLE

I also didn't, until I got tired of the ammout of stuter that 24fps movies give when the camera pans. I'd rather have some blur than this (i just use linear tscale which provides the less blur)

MPC-HC can play decrypted BDs, just not the interactive menus. Same as mpv.

>>

sourceforge works "fine" it still throws me a audio/video desync warning like bitbucker but it doesn't repeat the first few seconds.

at this point I think I am gonna make an issue on github, since this didn't happen before, and I am certain it's mpv and not youtube-dl.

Even building it myself on windows causes the same errors (like srs/sourceforge).

mpv plays DVDs just fine. It doesn't support any menus, though, just goes directly to the actual film. In previous versions mpv did play DVD menus, but the support was removed necause it was a pain to mantain. DVD menus are absolutely innecessary in my opinion.

mpv also plays decrypted and encrypted BDs. Without menus, though, and in this case mpv never really properly supported them. Regarding encrypted BDs, for the "simple" ones (AACS protection) you have to install libaacs and download some (illegal?) KEYDB.cfg file and place it in the appropiate directory. These "simple" encrypted BDs play just fine (in my case, Gladiator or The Last Samurai just work -under Linux if that matters-). Then there are more complex encrypted BDs using the BD+ protection. Theoretically, mpv should be able to play them using libbdplus and some other (illegal?) file, but I was never able to make this kind of BDs (Star Wars BDs for example) work this way and ended using MakeMKV and streaming to mpv.

That such an uninformed and casual guy such as myself knows all this and you don't really says a lot about you.

Yes, as long as your ffmpeg was built with FTP support. Check using
mpv --list-protocols

>And what's the difference between OpenGL and OpenGL-HQ?
opengl-hq sets the following options:

λ mpv --show-profile opengl-hq
Profile opengl-hq:
scale=spline36
cscale=spline36
dscale=mitchell
dither-depth=auto
correct-downscaling=yes
sigmoid-upscaling=yes
deband=yes
opengl-es=no

Refer to documentation about what they do. Mostly what you'll need to support opengl-hq is a recent enough iGPU to support FBOs, GL 3.x and also not be an unreasonably slow piece of shit.

Best thing to do is to try it out. If it doesn't work, it will probably tell you. (Also, if you're on windows try experimenting with the different backends)

To be fair, it's pretty glitchy, it will sometimes cause severe frame stutters on video that's close-to-but-not-actually 60fps (59.94), you can get rid of those by settings it to -1, but then it does actually affect true 60fps video.

libva-intel-driver is for xf86-video-intel, mesa-vdpau is for xf86-video-nouveau and xf86-video-amdgpu
if you run proprietary NVIDIA drivers you don't need an extra package.

This request has a history.
That one guy requested it multiple times (nobody else seems to use it) and argued with stuff like he needs it for his 5 downloads.
He also always failed to answer the posed questions about expected behavior in some cases as the matroska standard is not exhaustive about that.

Don't get the problem. The issue was resolved, it was not a problem of mpv or anything mpv could fix so of course the issue gets closed.
I bet you never read the issue, just read the comment and got triggered by it.

That ain't me.

I don't use mpv. It's your users who are running into files that they can't play. I put in the initial request so they wouldn't run into suboptimal behavior. The continued failures of mpv don't affect me, though.

I put in the request, you responded with, "I don't know what this thing is. CLOSED." That's not "closed," that's two open issues: the issue with the software and the one with your ignorance. Since there was no reason to instantly close it other than you're triggered by any insinuation that you're incompetent, I had some fun with that. I had no stake in the game so winding you up to the heavens was cheap entertainment.

The short answer for the particular reason I do most things I do is going to be, "autism."
A step-by-step accounting would be very lengthy and involved.

So very thoughtful of you. He doesn't care to implement it ever so he closed issue to keep the bugtracker clean. If any other dev was interested they would have reopened so no need to waste your time pseudo-psychoanalysis.

Yet he continues to show an interest, shutting down when he hits, "I don't know how to implement the absolutely perfect solution."

MPC-HC has an implementation that's useful. I don't see the relevance of the impossibility of more complex interactions with ordered chapters. Having chapters override linking closes those issues and is perfectly logical.

Oh, and that link rather proves that it's not, "just one encoder," since I didn't encode that. My first use of linked mkvs was September 2015. So it seems mpv users have been running into encodes their player can't handle for quite some time now.

Why not? Not wanting to implement doesn't imply total lack of general interest. All I see is he asks questions without getting adequate answers.

> he hits, "I don't know how to implement the absolutely perfect solution."
That's like, your own absurd conclusion.

>So it seems mpv users have been running into encodes their player can't handle for quite some time now.
Don't worry about mpv users, if they need something implemented they will get the feature they want implemented one way or another ie:smoothmotion, nnedi3, other useless placebo user scripts shit. One non-user who doesn't supply enough info and not follow up the issue and another rude spammer who spews insults doesn't cut it. When there is enough interest features are added and even sometimes features that are removed are brought back after getting revamped. If there is no interest (like DVD/BD menus), it won't be wasted time on.

If you want to argue that mpv's market share is so low that it's statistically probable that they're the only two mpv users in the anime community, I'll accept that.

>>56430537
>You can say, "I."
I'm not wm4 or any other mpv dev. I just follow mpv development loosely since two years and keep an eye on change logs. Only mpv dev I know who posts here is haasn.

>they're the only two mpv users in the anime community
ChrisK is a member of Coalgirls and an mpv dev, he doesn't seem to give two figs just like other mpv users.

Do they even know ordered chapters exist? Considering it looks like they went and manually inserted sixty-four copies of the NCOP in FMA:B, I'd say, "No."
