Its based of the first Microsoft media player, the one that everyone loved, only improved and added on to. I forget that windows even comes with a media player until I reinstall windows and I have to see that god awful thing they use now because I forgot to set wav files to open with something else or some shit.

Are you talking about MPC? Because you can set it to "repeat forever" under Playback options, only thing it doesn't work too nicely with HW decode

I was having issues with x265 encoded files with it so on a recommendation I switched to PotPlayer and it runs everything great. The only thing I hear people dislike it is that it isn't open source.

Anyone know why I shouldn't use it?

I only use VLC for my animes.

I found myself more and more using Emby UWP and Kodi. They are good when video library grows too big.
