I want to pull the trigger on ThinkPad 13

i5-6200U
Windows 7 Pro 64b (would prefer 8.1, fuck 10 though)
2x4GB RAM
HD 520 >games on a laptop
256 SSD (it's SATA3 which is fine)
13.3" 1080p anti glare IPS

My problem is I'm an yuropoor and this is from britbong lenovo shop, which only ships inside UK. Lenovo shop for my country doesn't list it...

Wat do, /g/?
>>
what country are you in? I could help you out here.
>>
the hell ? is that a macbook/ultrabook?
>>
>>56403351
Not in GB :^)
Do you guys have any experience with getting them to ship internationally? Thing is I don't know where I'll be during coming weeks, hell I might get out of country in a couple days (that's the reason I'm buying a laptop, I'll be doing a tonne of traveling). All I know is I'll be within the EU.

>>56403361
It's great looking isn't it. And the hardware is really nice, at least on paper. All this for £669,19.
>>
>>56403379
I'm in GB, which is why I was asking, and with international shipping I've always gone to buy it from someone within the country and get them to ship it to me through DHL, since its' usualy quicker and cheaper.

>no dGPU
absolute trash.
>>
>>56403402
>Letting a dGPU leech power so you can run your excell spreadsheets at 60fps instead of 60fps on iGPU at the low, low price of half your battery life.

Thank you for taking time from your scheduled tea-munching to read filthy writings of a mainland peasant. Thanks for insight/offering help!

Is that what you do on a dGPU? kys
>>
>>56403438
>optimus
>working
Memes aside, excell-tier shit is indeed what I'll be mostly doing with this laptop. In this case paying for a dGPU which will literally never get used and will add couple hundred grams to overall weight is not something I wanna do.

Mfw got a thinkpad E550 for €480 with an i5 5200u, r7 265m, 8gb Ram, 250 gb Ram and 1080p Monitor, new

You could've just bought an Acer if you don't give a fuck about quality
>>
>>56403318
Why don't you buy it from a shop other than Lenovo and ask them to send it to whatever location you are at? Is it only listed on Lenovo's websites?
>>
>>56403543
That r7 made me gag but still, mind providing a link?

>>56403556
I don't intend to stress is physically (at least not while it's open).

>>56403601
Literally no shop I could find had this specific configuration. I might be just trash at online shopping, never really did it before...
>>
>>56403645
>Literally no shop I could find had this specific configuration
Yeah I tried to find it as well. Usually 4 gb etc.
Maybe you can give Lenovo in your country a call? Maybe they can order it for you.
>>
>>56403556
the hinges are pretty strong
>>
>>56403318
UK doesn't stock the silver one, which has the aluminium lid. If you buy the black one, it is cheap and flimsy plastic.

Don't buy, and save yourself some money.
>>
>>56403556
What's your Definition of shitty hinges? Because I find them very stable, my father's Dell has hinges which are Floppy as hell
>>
>>56403563
Dunno it feels pretty well built, everythings tight and I like the Materials they used
>>
slovakia here
I always so sad seeing how americans can buy FHD version for $600
while at 600€ only 768 starts
I would not care about resolution itself, but the brightness of display is really really utter shit on these cheaper ones
even higher tier thinkpad T lines have shit tier nits levels compared to dell, asus or acer.
maybe some yogas have better brightness but I cant fucking comprehend how they can choose such inferior displays

simpletons like you always look for easy answers, whats easier than say whole brand is bad or whole brand/model line is good
acer got some very nice notebooks, just retards dont think about about $900 - $2000 line

Edge E550/ E450 are solid notebooks that got thinkpad keyboards and touchpad, are easily dismantled and customized with more ram or ssd switch
build quailty does not go through MIL SPECS 8 like thinkpad 13 but they still feel better than and are better than cheapest lenovo or asus notebooks

I did check the german site, no idea why it's so much more expensive, same problem though - shipping only within Germany.

yeah, my bad. The last time I checked was about 2 months ago. I still concur with the rest of my statement though.

I'm not married to this laptop, if any other would fulfill similar spec for a similar price (no more than 1k€) I'd have no problem switching. This is just the best I managed to find on my own.

Dell XPS 13?
Dell Inspiron 13 7000?
>>
>>56404087
check Acer Aspire S13
and also asus ux303 / ux305

therse also lenovo u330 that is no longer manufactured but might be find cheaply as remnant on stock in some shops

very likely out of his pricerange
plus inspiro 13 is glossy as fuck

+both ony with Windows 10, which I'm not going to use under any circumstance.

>>56404239
>Acer Aspire S13
Seems nice, 3.1 instead of 3.0 on the ThinkPad, but one less port. They don't seem to have a web shop though, so I'd have to hunt for retailers.

>asus ux305
Not sure how the performance is vs i5-6200U and M 5Y10, seems the i5 is much more powerful.
Has W8.1 which is great, screen at 40% (142 nits/120 nits):9.5 hrs so I guess it's comparable to ThinkPad 13, same USB situation as well.
Again no online shop, would have to sift through retailers (probably all stock Windows 10 versions...)
>>
>>56404490
why are you even muttering that shit about windows versions?
http://windowsiso.net/
and activate with kms whichever you like the best
>>
>>56404507
It's simple, really, I want to use a legitimate Windows license, and want all the drivers necessary.
Now I've never owned anything but a desktop (where drivers are abundant and support is all-encompassing) but I've heard it's a different story with laptops and you can't just assume anything.

>paying for windows
I have my reasons.

To summarize:
-around i5-6200U perf
-no dedicated gpu
-1080p IPS
-ideally Windows 8.1, 7 is fine to, 10 is absolutely out of the question
-couple USB ports, rj45 would be nice, headphone+mic jack
-as much battery life as possible, around 8hr minimum
>>
>>56404677
If you want preinstalled windows 7 or 8.1 I guess you are stuck with business laptops from HP, Dell or Lenovo.
