Are android anti virus actually necessary or security issues are just a meme?
I just used some recovery tool on my phone to recover some porn video I recorded of my shitty EX and that shit got pics from 2015
The crap we have there is terrifying
>ex
>my
Anti virus is garbage and android has really bad security issues.

Android is based on Linux so shouldn't it be secure?

Android has its benefits, like SELinux, but it also has a gigantic and technologically-rearded userbase. If you can install arbitrary applications, you can you can get someone's important info.
Make sure your security patch date is recent, and you're fine enough. everything else is just sociale engineering

So no issues with plain web browsing?
>>56393192
Just make sure you have the latest security patches and you *should* be fine.
>>56393238
hoe fuck am I supposed to have them if I run some old 4.2 android ROM because my chinkpone run like shit if I use anything else
>>56393261
If Cyanogenmod doesn't backport them, which I doubt they do, and CM13 doesn't run on it, which I also doubt, you're pretty fucked.
If I were you, I would move email and banking and so on off of the thing and just use it for unimportant social media stuff. Mobile authenticators should all be moved to email, on your laptop..

Post them already

She was fat, not worthy

>got pics from 2015
you don't use your phone that much, writing over the same space you use to have the images/video. Do you even understand how it works?
>>56390644
Use CyanogenMod or something and get weekly updates. Make sure root is disabled for apps and ADB. You'll be fine.

Android is not based on Linux. It uses a Linux kernel. Operating systems like Debian also use a Linux kernel. Android is its own thing while Debian is based on GNU. Both share the same kernel though. iOS is based on Mac OS, and both share an XNU kernel. Apple's mobile and desktop operating systems would be a more example accurate if the same was said about them.

To add on to what this anon said, social engineering includes things like phishing. If you're jerking off and a screen appears telling you that chrome is broken, ignore it. This is how most Android users get malware.

Blue board.

>Android is not based on Linux. It uses a Linux kernel
>android is not based on linux, it's based on the linux kernel
Wow, thanks for clarifying that sempai.

The Linux kernel and underlying software is relatively secure (see stagefright), the main problem comes in the user facing portions.
Android tries to mitigate somewhat by not having an su binary by default (so a user cannot jump into su mode) and by limiting to installations through trusted sources by default, but as usual the user is the number one vulnerability on the platform.
