Pick one.

Criticize the choice made by other anons.
Defend your choice.

Kubuntu.

Because it looks the most like windows.

Ubuntu is best *buntu. But Fedora > everything else
>>
>>56377396
Can't they just have one ubuntu and have some metapackages to install the DE+Apps?
>>
>>56377396
Xubuntu because it's lightweight, then use that to install Gentoo
>>
Ubuntu server.

Then install what i want. Which will turn out to be ubuntu mate anyway.

huh? why wouldn't you just Install Gentoo first and save yourself the trouble?
>>
>>56377453
Windows looks the way it looks because Microsoft spent millions of dollars testing their design and getting user feedback from beta testers.

It's a really good design for a desktop.
>>

Why Mate?
>>

OP told me to pick one

If you have 32 GiB of RAM, why not just use Windows 10?
>>
>>56377682
Why would I want to get spied on by Microsoft and the NSA?

Also Windows 10 is very user un-friendly. It doesn't even come preinstalled with a real terminal emulator

>>56377712
Unless you believe the NSA physically wiretapped your hardware, there's pretty little they can do about a hardened Linux setup, as evidenced by the fact that they can't crack OTR, GnuPG, SecureDrop etc..

Remember, the NSA mostly operates off money, not technological prowess. They blackmail or coerce companies into building in backdoors. Can't do that with Linux kernel devs.

Ubuntu MATE

MATE is based and looks good. Shame it`s resource hog
>>
>>56377475
You mean ubuntu-desktop, kubuntu-desktop, xubuntu-desktop, etc?
Because is already a thing

Why is the Ubuntu GNOME logo a shekel symbol?

People like you used to say they couldn't crack SSL HTTPS

"Project Bullrun deals with NSA's abilities to defeat the encryption used in specific network communication technologies. Bullrun involves multiple sources, all of which are extremely sensitive." The document reveals that the agency has capabilities against widely used online protocols, such as HTTPS, voice-over-IP and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), used to protect online shopping and banking."

>>
>>56377893
I believe what that quote is referring to is the ability to crack one particular 1024-bit DH group (which is widely common because of shitty products), which they did by throwing lots of money (hardware) at the problem.

NSA isn't made of wizards. Just pick a random DH group, ideally 2048-bit or higher, and they can't crack it
>>
>>56377931
>they can't crack it

How do you know that? If they were currently able to crack it, wouldn't that capability be a secret?

You don't know for a fact that they can't.

kubuntu in general
ubuntu for vms
xubuntu for computers with limited resources
