Damn they are? I thought the edge was a meme? It was the phone I wanted. I don't want to buy another phone for at least a year or two. I'm coming off an iPhone 5S and never want an apple product again. If the note 7 is unnecessary - I just want a phone with good battery, strong enough performance, great camera, microsd slot, slightly waterproof is a plus, if note 7 is over kill then I won't get it.

Half the coffee table is large af. If it's too big for one hand then it's a deal breaker. So is s7 edge what I'm looking for? (Two weeks ago before I heard of note 7 I thought it was). I've just heard too many rave reviews about the note 7.
>>
>>56373358
it has a 650 when the z5 has a 850 so what the fuck happened there. And the Compact series were the phones where Sony actually did something different

now it's a mid range phone rather than being a high range compact phone.

I really love Sony's phone designs, I don't want to abandon them. That and waterproofing.

Maybe I'll just get the HTC10 and hope for a future where Sony gets their head out of their asses.

>The 820 is over kill, and not very efficient. You'll get great performance and better battery life with the 650. Furthermore, the new Geekbench 4 benchmarks suggests that the A72 cores in the 650 are faster than the Kyro cores in the 820.

I have a new galaxy s3 duos, which was a reboot of the s3 in 2014 that was factory unlocked for international usage, and has two sim slots that you can switch which is the primary from within the OS

I have had it sitting in the box and I just now am deciding to use it, but I do not like that this phone lasts so short on battery life. My old one from 2011 that i've been using from now lasts 4 days without a charge, if I have mobile data disabled.

Would using one of these be a bad idea?

My sister has the 6s, my buddy owns the OP3.
In contrary to what everyone says the screen on the OP3 is like perfectly okay for 1080p. There is literally nothing wrong with it and same goes for the camera.
That's just my two cents. Is there anything else wrong with it?

I can't decide though because I use a Samsung s5 and it turned into a laggdroid that's slow as hell and feels like cheap plastic

The 6s just feels solid and I know what I'm in for.
As I don't want to buy another phone next year I'm asking which one will last me longer

Got an open box Moto G 3rd generation unlocked delivered from ebay for 161 CAD retails for about 350 CAD tax included without a plan.

I bought it because my technophobe mom wanted a phone that was good for her and the (((salesman))) told her it was the only good option they had for her. My sister was with her and got a Samsung GRAND (complete garbage) for the same price.

The phone is perfect for me.

-long battery time
-just the right processing power for the low grade apps I run C25K shit and web browsing (youtube) I like to do.
-Decent screen.
-Loud and clear speaker and mic.

Basically the perfect no nonsense phone from a reputable cell maker and absolutely perfect for the price.

Last phone was some chink crap I don't remember the name of and didn't care about when somebody stepped on and crack the screen in my car. I paid 85 bucks for that one that retailed for on tmart for 150 and it was a "quad core" with a somewhat unresponsive touch screen and unremarkable in every single way. Meh.

All I want is a chinkphone (or budget phone) with amoled display, good battery life/replaceable battery, expandable storage, and current custom ROM support. Why doesn't this exist?
>>
>>56378307
I mean, there's the Axon 7 with QHD and front facing speakers.
But it's a pretty lateral upgrade.

More RAM.
Worse camera.
Better CPU.
Slower on Android updates.
MicroSD slot.
0.2" smaller screen.

>>56378740
Only difference is that the Edge's screen is 0.4" bigger and looks cool. But it's also more prone to cracking, and users have complained that it registers touches from the sides when they don't mean for it to.
Note is the S7 Edge but another 0.2" bigger, has USB-C, the stylus and iris scanner. Has the same minor issues Edge suffers.
All the hardware is exactly the same between them.
They're all good phones - just depends on what you're looking for out of it.

>>56379114
I've always fucking wondered this.
I remember on my LG G4 getting a special holepunch to cut away the extra plastic so it'd fit.
Makes no sense to me why anything but nano would exist anymore, even if it used to have a use at one point.

I have a silicon case coming in the mail, I'm sure it will provide a lot of extra protection but it won't be as cool and will be a lint magnet..

I have tempered glass screen protectors arriving in the mail.

Why spend time protecting a chink phone you ask? Because i hate using a phone for a year and seeing it become a fingerprint magnet with scratches and scuff marks all over it. The glass on every new phone is coated in an olephobic coating that repels the oil from your fingers but after a lot of use this all rubs off and the screen starts to get a buildup of hand oil on it.

No idea if it's good or what it means, people usually say that your phone should use your ram if it is available while others say phones should minimise ram usage. Idk, miui is not cyanogenmod.

3gb is a lot of ram for a smartphone and people get by fine on phones with 1gb. I don't use my phone any differently than I did when I had an original Moto g which only had 1gb of ram, although the Redmi note pro 3 is much faster loading pages and scrolling.

MIUI isn't bad on even 2gb ram. No lag complaints from someone I sold a Redmi 3S to, about 900mb free after closing everything. Miui is bloated in comparison to cm but it runs fine.

Also RN3P runs cm13 near perfect at this point, so miui isn't really a big deal.

Gotta agree, I'm getting a little tired of feeling like developers are treating me like a second class citizen. Like because I use Android, I don't deserve their best app development. And teh whole update situation is awful. Imo, anything but Nexus isn't that great for Android. I'm not totally ready to switch because 6p with 7.0 is amazing, but if the New google Phone, or New Nexus, whatever they decide to call it, isn't the best phone of the year, I'm buying a 6s.

A lot of it has to do with Android's programming language.
It's significantly less efficient, and on average takes around 30% more lines of code to make the same app for Android as it would have on iOS.

So if a company gives $X amount of money to a developer, who splits 50% of their time on iOS, and 50% on Android, the iOS app will almost always be less buggy and more polished.

It's why it was a big deal when Google mentioned that they were considering adding the same programming language iOS uses to Android, though that'll likely take years before we actually see it in action.

4 hours of SoT is better than what I get now by a bit and this is with low usage
>>
>>56384117
you gotta know it gets worse if you multitask or use heavy handed apps.
the heat destroys the battery even more which is why i sold it.
even the nexus 5 before it had better heat management desu.
>>
>>56384145
Are you fucking kidding me

Maybe I have to get the 6p after all
>>
>>56384205
unfortunately it has the same problem but not AS bad.
the 5x is all anecdotal by me though, but 6p i've lurked ppl's experiences
>>
>>56384035
4 hours should be unacceptable. The only time I'd expect to get that kind of charge is if I were playing a game for that entire period.
>>
What new phone would a Galaxy S4 be about equivalent to now?
>>
>>56384222
I just want something that works

Maybe I should get that Note 4 refurb I was considering after all since the phones I've looked into, the nexus 5x and moto x pure, apparently have trash batteries.

Then again I don't think I've used lte in 2 years. Maybe I will order this meme phone since it seems to get regular 4g/hspda+ on tmobile.

Is the battery life actually that good?

BLU will never release a major Android update for it, like literally never, no pajeet support either
Though most of the time BLU phones are rebrands from chinkshit, so usually you might find that there's quite some support for the original chinkshit phone that will work on it

I am requesting purchasing advice.

Cuckstralia, Vodafone, I want 0 lag when typing (I'm an extremely fast typer and CANNOT stand laggy keyboards), couldn't care less about features beyond that, budget is as cheap as I can possibly get, size will probably be small as a result.

I still think 'Google Phone' would be better for mainstream marketing but whatever.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro, you can get it for under $250 AUD.

Has 32GB storage, 3GB ram, 5.5inch display and a 4000MAH battery.

You can run cyanogenmod on it or the custom Xiaomi rom that it comes with.

Doesn't lag at all whatsoever and works on 4G and 3G.
>>
>>56384596

the fuck is this, the stone age?

I wish the Nexus 5X didn't have only 2 GB ram.
>>

4gb ram.

lads, is there a way to root my HTC one E8? I hear people could root it on 4.4.2, but I'm on 6.0.1. So right now I was looking at somehow donwgrading back to 4.4.2, or trying to use an M8 root on my E8 since its pretty much the same phone.

You can get it for ~$200 AUD but I decided to play it safe so I got mine from eglobal instead of gearbest/honorbuy/aliexpress/banggood/geekbuying. I paid $30 for shipping and got it in 3 days.

Still worked out being MUCH cheaper than any phone sold in Australia.

>I can't decide though because I use a Samsung s5 and it turned into a laggdroid that's slow as hell and feels like cheap plastic
OP phones won't turn into lagdroids, if you're okay with the feeling of your friends OP3 then it should be perfectly fine
>>
>>56384503
Did you even try reading the Google Play store page for it?

z3 yes, the plus not so much because of heatdragon.

You also get official PA support which is quite nice.

I hate the way they look. They seem so cheap and the gloss/matte split on the back is fugly as hell. I don't like the raised and glossy rear camera portion of the 6P but Huawei did a much better job overall. This is assuming that the rendering is real, which I hope it isn't, and that the phone design doesn't change, which I hope it does.

it is. I found out that it works just fine through usb 3.0. My old galaxy s3 did the exact same thing back before I had a motherboard that supported 3.0, though. I was kind of annoyed with my note 7 doing the same thing after having a flawless experience with my One M8.

Lots of online posts with no solutions coming from google. I think Samsung just can't into pc drivers or something.

I was going to join Google FI and buy the NEXUS 5x, but apparently there are going to be new phones?

Should I wait? I only planned on spending 200$ anyways.
Would the new models be more than 200$?

Also I've never owned a smart phone before.
>>
>>56386666
>Would the new models be more than 200$?
Definitively
Though this new phones mean that the Nexus 5X should go lower in price, but since it probably will be discontinued as soon as the new Pixel launches it might become hard to find
So it's probably a good idea to get the Nexus 5X now if you can find it under 200
