What is the best sliding dumb phone in 2016?

Preferably one that can play music and has an audio jack.

Tip: no one things you're cool
>>
this is technology board
fuck off luddite
>>
>>56370310
Not at all I just like the clickyness of the slide. Also I don't really trust myself to not use the phone in public and look like a jackass. My only other phone was a pantec link 2 and it was okay. It would be nice to play music on a phone though
>>
While you faggots were bitching I decided the LG Xpression C395 is about the best choice for me. For anyone who sees this and is interested it fits all my requirements and costs about $60.

Why not sliding smartphone? They're even cheaper second hand
>>
>>56371411

>wanted a physical qwerty and there's nothing here
>tfw stuck with touchscreen only

I still miss my lg eve

Same phone it has been every year, the N900.
>>
>>56372483
So it is a dumb phone.
>>
>>56372525
Unless you get deeper into the system, there's not much you can change. Like a Chromebook laptop.
>>
>>56371411
Ive always wanted x10mini pro last time but then my family said sliding keyboard is easy to spoil and then I only got x10mini :'(
>>
>>56372586
The touchscreen will fail you much earlier than the slider will
>>
>>56371411
>slide phone keyboard daily
>ribbon cable starts wearing
>screen glitches
>screen finally goes black
>>
>>56372887
>Electronics go bad
Holy shit buycott electronics!
>>
>>56371411
I used to own one of these a few years back, I loved it, with a CM rom is was powerful enough for all the apps I wanted to use and the keyboard was beautiful.
I fell for the 'specs are everything' meme though and ended up selling it, regret it to this day.
>>
>>56372986
I got 2, for 20 bucks a pop
>>
>>56372525
It's a dumbphone, smartphone, it's anything you want it to be
>>
>>56370298
doesn't even have a 3.5 mm headphone jack
are you stupid
>>
>>56372977
It wears faster than a standard phone because of moving parts.
>>
>>56373057
Did you figure that out all by yourself?
>>
>>56373057
>moving parts meme
It's literally the sturdiest part of the phone. Only thing that can realistically fail you under normal circumstances is the ribbon cable, and that's like a 10$ replacement.
>>
>>56373087
Its common sense
>>56373088
I was referring to the ribbon cable.
I was going to repair mine but it no longer charges to 100% so I didn't bother to fix it.
>>
I'm kind of surprised no chinese company has come out with a semi-decent QWERTY android smartphone. They've made more obscure things.
>>
>>56370310
>friends come to my place
>they see my PC with dual screens turned on so they ask about various things that are open
>thus I show them keyboard designs I'm making in Inventor, including an odd ergonomic one
>then they ask about all those Chrome windows (around 23 of them)
>show them the extension I use for managing all those tabs, at 100+ tabs open at the time
>then somebody tries to search for something and fails to do so since I use Colemak
>they are surprised that there is a keyboard layout other than QWERTY/QWERTZ
>they ask how do I type on phone
>respond that I tend to mix up keys recently since it has QWERTY
>'hey, couldn't you change it in Android?'
>I'm using Blackberry
How much of a hipster do I seem to be now?

nobody gives a shit about phones with keyboards anymore.
/g/ wanted it for years and blackberry made it, then everyone shut the fuck up and didn't even buy it.
stop pretending retards.
get a decent android phone like Samsung™ Galaxy s7 Edge.
>>
>>56373241
I own a priv, just wish there was a modern side slider.
>>
>>56373241
The N900 was quite popular in /g/ way back, someone just rarely makes something that's actually good
>>
You can get slider cases for iphones:

https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Qwerty-Keyboard-Sliding-iPhone/dp/B009XF2PC4

Imagine if one of these was made for a redmeme.
Talk about the dream.
>>
>>56373392
I had an N900 in 2011 and it was terrible, buggy. laggy and physically fell apart in the matter of 6 months. I was so relieved when I upgraded to the original Galaxy Note.
>>
>>56373408
wtf, I love apple now
>>
>>56373408
You know, some android phones might be able to fit in those cases, as long as they have the same dimensions as the iphone.
The case might require some modifications, but since it's just bluetooth it should work.
>>
>>56373429
It was my main phone for two years, never had any problems with the build quality, sold it and it still worked fine.
Don't know about the buggy/laggy part, run fine for me, I loved that you could tweak it and it wasn't locked down, I even had multiboot with Debian and Android.

It had some other nice features, not just the keyboard, that you don't see much, like FM transmitter, USB host and A/V out.

Would you recommend this device for [current year]?
>>
>>56373429
I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about /g/ :^)

>>56373471
Never actually tried debian or android on it, but it was good quality, a washing machine or a few drops onto a stone sidewalk did nothing to it

I feel you, Anon.
My friends don't understand my discerning taste in alternate configurations/setups either [HIPSTER ALERT]. I hate using just ONE operating system or layout. I've read a long time ago that changing what you're comfortable with can make you a more adaptable person and much more efficient at problem solving. Besides, if people actually saw what other alternatives there were, maybe they'd find a preference that would work much better for them.

>Stallmanphone

Stallmans unironically second sourcing components to make new mobos and keep them going and going. I am am impressed and disgusted at the same time.
>>
>>56373544
I liked the N900 but the Neo900 is shit, it's a badly executed idea and nothing good will come of it.

we're past days of Bluetooth 1.0 grandpa

>>

my mom is the reigning world champion of load swallowing, nothing is as fast as she is. she can swallow loads faster than a car depreciates when you drive it off the lot.
and my dad works at nintendo ;^)
>>56373636
wtf I hate bluetooth now
Guess that applies to bluetooth headsets. Guess I'll stick to wired or RF.

Sorry, no other browser except Opera, which is pretty much the same as Chrome, offers such good tab management (in an extension)
