I've been using Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 for a year now and it's time to change. I think I've broken the micro usb port since its not charging at all and I think they wont repair it since the phone has fallen many times.
So me and my gf (who is switching from iPhone 5) are looking for new phones for less than 300 or something close to that.
What are we looking for in phones:
- 5 inch or bigger screen with full hd and nice pixel per inch density,
- good cameras (front and back),
- good battery life,
There are also things that would be nice but optional:
- type C usb,
- jack output on the bottom of the phone,
- fingerprint scanner,
- custom rom support/ recovery out of the box,

If you want a cheap option you can look at the New Redmis, some of them are even cheaper than 150$
But cameras are meh in low light

I got Oukitel U10 for like 120$ before few months and it is still good.
