Who Unix (BSD) here?
>>56355461
I use it for my NAS
>>56355461
I run OpenBSD on my laptops and firewall, FreeBSD on a server, and am going to install OpenBSD on my UMPC when the new SSD comes in
Does System V count?
>>56358957
Yes. I recently tried the most recent version of Solaris though and had a very, very disappointing time.

OSX here.

Yeah, 11 is kind of lame as a desktop system, plenty usable but not very exciting, might as well just use BSD or GNU/Linux with MATE and enjoy way more software compatibility.

It wasn't very usable though. The pkg system didn't work at all for upgrading packages, and the system always froze before poweroff if you had solaris-desktop or X-all installed, thus creating a system that could not shut itself down.
I'm going to try Solaris 10 in a couple days though, hopefully it'll be better than 11.3
Has anyone tried Illumos?
>>56359029
I forgot about that, yeah the package manager was total shit. I just use OpenCSW anyway though so I didn't mess with it much.
10's always been pretty good to me, run it on all my SPARC gear plus this VM I use for dicking around.

DD'd OpenIndiana for a while, it felt very...forgotten, ancient packages, and kind of buggy. At least it was compatible with Solaris software, so you could upgrade the stable version to a semi-usable state.
I've had some people shilling SmartOS to me lately though, might be worth giving that a try.

I thought both BSD and System V kind of started mixing together near the end.

They certainly have. Especially Solaris, since it took a lot of SunOS stuff.
But they're not too mixed.
