What i want to know is can you cool a amd 9050 with a Noctua NH-D15 6 without issues? if given that my case is large enough and i have adequate ventilation from other fans.....will this work?
no i don't want intel
no i don't a aoi...(just had on leak on me so i want air cooling if at all possible)

sorry 9590

you know leaking AIO are covered under warranty right? Some are even lifetime. I'd get a new cooler from the manufacturer.

even if this is true, this is the BEST possible cooling

The Noctua will do it just fine, although I would personally recommend an 8370 with an overclock instead simply because the default settings on the 9590 are (imo) more aggressive than you really want to have. You could achieve the same clockspeeds on an 8370 no problem.

An 8350 or 8320 is also an option, but riskier because of extensive binning.

An AIO is still the better choice though.

thank you both i will look into the warranty with my aoi...i just happened to get a Noctua NH-D15 for free from a friend...i did not want to burn up my chip in the meantime.

I would recommend underclocking it a bit when you first boot on the PC (disable turbo, lower clock speed to ~4.4 Ghz and lower vcore to around 1.3) just to see how the cooler is working and then you can crank it up from there slowly.

The cooler is good enough, but honestly never liked how the 9590 defaults to 1.5V on the core.

you cant burn up the chip without a HSF unless u turn it on

>buying piledriver trash in 2016

please be b8. if you want a CPU that clocks high then just buy second hand sandy bridge. otherwise get an i5-6500 and stop worrying about cooling.

this
And if you're really cheap, know that an X58 + Xeon X5600/W3600 series cpu will outdo the fx9590 while also being only a little more expensive, if at all
