I can relate. A 'strict mode' is basically a major signs that the language creators fucked up. Another one is if one can't have multiple instances of an interpreter in the C-API. Actually, that goes for most APIs that aren't necessarily data racy by their nature.

On the other other hand, Ruby and Python should have a strict mode that forbids omitting variable declaration before usage.
