A Thinkpad with a large battery would probably be a safe choice, as long as you get once with a nice screen. Even better would be one that is hotswappable, so you can carry any choice of smaller or larger batteries with you as you please.

As most have said here, the Chromebooks have really good battery life, and are good streaming machines. Look for one that has a 1920x1080 screen. The Pixel is worth looking at if you like the idea of Chrome OS a lot.

Virtually any ThinkPad with a 9 cell battery or a battery slice. Next suggestion is rare, but if it shows up, to for it: ThinkPad x1 hybrid. In Android mode of can last minimum 11 hours watching videos. The only issue is that it runs gingerbread. When you need more power, just switch to Windows. It does all this with a 3 cell battery. Battery slice is available too.

No they can't. The battery remaining meter is inaccurate as fuck on OSX.
Apple advertises 10 hours, expect 6 hours.
If you get the iStat battery meter for OSX, you will see how much less you're getting.
