Been thinking about dual-booting Ubuntu or Mint along side Win 10. What can i get from linux that Windows doesnt have?

im about to do the same as OP. bought myself a new SSD to fit both Win10 and im thinking Arch.
From what i understand, linux provides the freedom to as you want in the os. Ive missed that in windows.

Linux' predecessor Unix was designed by AT&T in order to have a system that could flexibly solve all kinds of problems through combining simple tools through pipes on the command line. Its other nice feature is that everything is a file. Even a device is s special kind of file that you can open and then read or write. In short, it gives you the foundation to build your own stuff for free.
