What's your favorite connection /g/ ?
>>
reliable BNC bud
>>
>>56310798
Not an audio fag at all BUT
XLR
Shit it rock solid
All the rest is flimsy junk
>>
>>56310798
Favorite?

Definitely XLR. They can withstand an ungodly amount of abuse. Also, rebuilding the ends on the cable can be done easily and for free.
>>
>>56310798
P2
>>
>>56310798
XLR for sure. I'd have to try hard to fuck up my mics connections
>>
>>56310798
TS is all I need to jam out and enjoy the life. the rest are products of the things that cause me frustration and confusion and I can do without (except XLR)
>>
>>56310798
Who is using BNC for audio?
>>
>>56310798

BNC :^)

As being someone that has been fucking his 12 year old sister for the past two months; i'd have to say BNC.
>>
XLR is the most manliest of connections

Meant to be used for long as fuck connections, where other pussy cables degrade. Also most secure connection. Can swing a microphone or run over it with a heavy set piece hundreds of times.

Lady parts that accept a connection from a male part.

That be MY favorite!
>>
>>56310868

I don't think it would've ever been practical for audio. Stupid people would always wreck that shit and it probably is more expensive to manufacture.

In electrical engineering lab equipment, BNC is very useful. No loose connections, also the cables have a specified resitance (50, 75 Ohms) etc. I like them very much for work.

>>
>>56310798
I have a good experience with XLR at work, but BNC is my favorite connector. Those niggers just stay fucking snug and comfy as fuck. I don't think I've ever seen them used for audio though, just video.
>>
>>56310925
wtf I hate bnc now
>>
>>56310981
Right, but I'm pretty sure the chart is for audio which led to my question.
>>
Not bnc, fuck them.
>>
I'm a huge fan of the midi standard, but 5 pin cables aren't really that great imho.

So my vote goes to XLR
As a digital instrument musician I always run all my trs outs 6" into a direct box(s) velcro'd to my rig, just so I can run the rest with sweet sweet balanced and physically secure xlr cables
>>
Ur mums pussy with my dick #rekt

Now for real - I have a soft spot for the DIN family of connectors, mostly due to its usage on the c64.

>>

BNC. Used exclusively at my job, it's solid.
>>
>>56311659
What do you think ADAT is?
>>
Bluetooth.
>>
>>56310798
MIDI and TS, I use them.
>>
>>56310911
Fucking shitty ass connector that's what, keep twisting it around until it clicks in the right way up, shitty flap on the receiver snaps so good luck holding it in one place.
>>
RCA/TRS
>>
>>56310798
....wireless?

What are those 'strings' for again?
Do they connect your cans together so you can talk to your buddy in your treehouse?
>>
>>56312333

No ty.
>>
>>56312333
good luck with your wireless sustain pedal and keyboard m8
>>
BNC, TRS in second
>>
>>56310798
DIN. The one you have incorrectly identified as MIDI.
>>
XLR - For mics or anything going a long distance
BNC - For antenna connection or similar
TS/TRS - For headphones, or near fields

Various connections have their purpose; I wouldn't want RCA for my 300ft runs, but it's more than adequate to connect my stereo to my tv.
>>
>>56310798
It used to be your mother until it got changed by HDMI
>>
BNC
>>
>>56310798

midi
>>
rca because so much contact area it almost can't fail and it's easy to plug in and out
>>
>>56310973
Came here to say that
>>
>>56310798
I work at a local state-owned institution of higher education. In the 80's and earlier, we used to use XLR cables/connections for network communication. Pre-ethernet days. We still have wall-mounted (disconnected) XLR connectors on the walls of some of our offices.
>>
>>56310798
USB/AUX
>>
>>56310868
wireless mic packs have receivers that can use bnc for their antennas so the signal is better.
live/stage sound though
>>
>>56310798

BNC or fuck off

USB2 or USB3?
>>
>>56310798
XLR or Hirose
>>
>>56310798
TRS is universal

XLR is godly
>>
>>56310798
Professional audiofag here (mostly live sound)
XLR is the shit and how it works fascinates me
One of the pins is the signal and another pin is the signal but inverted
Sends it down the run, and say it picks up some noise interference, both the regular and flipped signal pick up equal noise
End of the run the flipped signal gets flipped back but so does the noise, so when summed the noise is now perfectly out of phase with the regular signal's noise so the noise cancels itself out
Maybe I worded some of this wrong but that's the jist
>>
>>56318092
This is what "balanced" means if I'm not mistaken
>>
>>56317996
Universal how?
I only ever see TRS for inserts
>>
>all these BNC fags

enjoy your aperture antenna at high frequencies

the sound is just better.

else S/PDIF RCA or TRS
the other's are meh but are soild i have tried all except ADAT never heard of it family.

>USB is USB Type-B

You have to be 18+ to post here OP.
>>
>>56319861
forget that, the picture tried to be in scale but fails hard
>>
how do you use bnc for audio? the only way I can think are the embeded tracks in an sdi signal, it can also carry an aes signal?
>>
>>56319881
It's not just about audio, why the fuck do idiots here think the diagram is audio only?
>>
>>56310798
Never knew MIDI had it's own connector, usually it's just DIN-5
Also DIN-5 is used for analog audio too, so why the fuck call it MIDI?
>>
>>56319890
because the vast majority of that connector are audio only?
>>
it depends on the field of application, for satellite trasmission BNC is god, if it is climped correctly it's impossible to break
>>
>>56310798
Fucking ol' school XLR. It's the most resistant and reliable connection of the photo
>>
XLR is a joy to use, RCA looks best.
>>
>>56310798

MIDI - one of the greatest protocols ever designed, but got a bad reputation from norms who don't make music because of their shitty sound cards with shitty sound fonts

MIDI is olev
>>
>>56311034
You could get those locking XLRs but it depends on having a mount with the same functionality. Having worked at a TV studio I'd say you cant ever go wrong with XLRs for audio and BNC for video
>>
TRS for the vaguely phallic shape
>>
>>56319657
>thatsthejoke.jpg
>>
>>56310798
The only correct answer is optical cables. Fasted data transfer speed. Suck my nuts hdmi. Optical has been able to run 4k for the last decade. Animators used to use displays with much better resolution than 4k before 1080p became an easy way to target normies. Have fun updating your cables to the latest and greatest shit every year as the unleash better transfer rates, or just get a set of optical cables and run your shit forever.
