Hey /g/. I've got a bit of a puzzle that I'm hoping someone could help me with. If this thread doesn't belong here, feel free to ignore or redirect me.
See, I have T-mobile with a 10GB data plan and noticed something peculiar about how it works once I go above the data threshold. I went over the limit just a few days ago, but have noticed that some sites aren't limited by the throttle at all. In general, I have the expected 128kb/s download rate across the board, but here on 4chan of all places, I have standard unthrottled speeds. I'm not well-read on the technology behind how cellular data works, but I'm curious about why something like 4chan would slip through the cracks on a data throttle. I haven't found too many sites where the same thing happens, so it's hard to pinpoint a pattern. Any theories?

maybe bored sysadmin is fucking with people
Try it on a vpn perhaps and see

Are you sure it's not just that 4chan is one of the least bloated sites on the internet? On any device 4chan should be faster because there's way less to actually load comoared to bloated pieces of garbage like tumblr, facebook, and any news site on the internet

I considered that. But I went to /wsg/ and managed to load every webm and gif at much higher speeds than I should be allowed. I also checked 4+4chan, and I'm down to 128kb/s there. There's definitely something bypassing the throttle for me. I checked with a friend who has the same plan as I do and he gets the same results.

A vpn is worth checking. I'll check one out and see what results I get.

T-Mobile fag with throttled speeds can confirm. Generally curious as well

You're either not tracking your data correctly or you're a dumbass and don't realise shit like 4chan and bash will load easier even with a tiny pipe.

It doesn't matter how well I track my data. T-mo sends me a convenient little message that tells me I'm throttled when I run out of data. And I'm well aware that 4chan runs easier than a lot of sites. Regardless, I shouldn't get 2MB/s down when loading a file when my limit is 15KB/s. This limit applies to sites that load much easier than 4chan, for the record. But images and videos will still fail to load quickly due to their file sizes being large enough to delay the load.
