Help!
Any suggestions for a Linux utility or program to check HDD health/S.M.A.R.T. info/etc...? I'd prefer a GUI but it's not necessary.
I think my 8 year old SATA II WD Black drives are finally giving out :(
PS: Debian-based if possible since that's what I'm on.
Thanks!
Bump
Anyone? :(
sudo apt-get install smartmontools
sudo smartctl --test=short /dev/sda

sudo smartctl --all /dev/sda

Good luck with that OP. Hope you have a back up HDD on the way or in hand.

Right now I slapped Elementary OS on an old 64gig SSD and I'm running off that (inb4 elementary: it's the first live USB I found on my desk lol). I'm hoping its just a case of my chipset having a fit. It's a good old AMD 790x but since its from GIGABYTE they also threw in their own SATA and RAID controllers so sometimes they don't play along :3

SpinRite
Mount on USB and boot.
