>>
That kind of sucks, but it gives me more time to save up i guess. I'm not even sure if i'll get vega, because ultimately it depends how it benches against the 1070 in terms of both cost and performance.

I guess a positive way to look at this is AMD avoiding a paper launch and if it had issues, it's actively fixing them.

Almost tempting to pick up a 470 for under 200 and sell it in a few months at this point though.
>>
Am I the only one who wants AMD to die so badly? Imagine without them annoying Intel what kind of amazing CPUs we'd have...

Intel would make even smaller generational improvements than they have been. The last time they made a fantastic leap was with Sandy Bridge. You know why that is? It's because they don't need to. It's because without competition, they can be lazy. AMD being around forces Intel to improve. I want AMD to be competitive so that the industry as a whole can move forward.

AMD is already getting enterprise sales wins(the only market that really matters for them) for Zen based parts.
Its not a matter of *if* Zen is good, its only a matter of how much GloFo and Samsung can produce, and if AMD can price them attractively enough to stop anyone from buying new 24c Xeons.
Their 32c/64t chip coming in at 180w is an absolute fucking beast, and the competition is over $7,000. AMD's MCM approach means that production cost is significantly lower than intel's for a chip with more throughput. They're offering twice the memory channels as well.

How can Freesync be just as good when you cant use Nvidia hardware with it?

You expect your little poo-in-gpu to run games in 1440p 144hz?
>>
>>56300936

HBM2 is clocked higher than HBM1. There won't be as much 'saved' power from it this time around.

This also ignores the fact that AMD's architecture itself is bad too:

gtx1060 = 55.2 fps / 200mm2 = 0.276 perf/mm2
gtx1080 = 91.6 fps / 314mm2 = 0.291 perf/mm2
rx480 = 49.5 fps / 232mm2 = 0.213 perf/mm2

gtx1060 is ~29% better perf/mm2
gtx1080 is ~36% better perf/mm2

AMD would have to make a 30% larger die just to compete with the equivalent nvidia GPU, meaning they'd have to build a ~400mm2 die to compete with the 1080 and a ~620mm2 die to compete with the titan xp. Meanwhile NVIDIA could just '''refresh''' their lineup with new, larger dies and still maintain a huge performance advantage.
