Given my limited understanding, a floating point is way to keep track of numbers. It is done by the numbers themselves and a second part which says where the decimal point goes. But for some reason it seems to drift a tiny amount here and there, so you get 4.999999=5 and stuff. To be honest I get the joke, but not the deeper idea.
