If that IR eye sensor can generate a working image you can overlay the normal camera, then we might be talking.

Near IR (800 - 1300 nm) should be standard.
Thermal IR would be good too.

Very little is happening on the hardware front for smart phones but the slightest change in details will be heralded as "innovations".

But it has the latest Gorilla Glass, extra hardware (pen, Iris thing), extra software, and better design (symmetrical curves).

It has a slightly smaller battery than the S7e, which doesn't make sense, but that's the only category it loses on, and even then it's so negligible since the Note7 lasts longer than the S7e in every review I've seen thus far.

I'm on a rooted & xposed & 10kah ZL & 12gb edata sd Note 4. I can't go back to the accursed life of carrying chargers, portable batteries, or being a servant of power sockets.

Samsung not documenting its shit and preventing a proper stable root is also shitty, but hey at least there's the snapdragon version I guess, but that chips is shit compared to Samsung's in-house exynos chips. Whatever. Maybe the Note 8. Or the LG G Stylo. Eh.

Yea Note 4 was the best IMO. Everything afterwards seems tiresome or a step back. It's likely coincidental but Android has also suffered the same fate where everything post JB/KK is just abysmal.

I'll add that Google as a whole seems to be set on cancer. Contacts unless you go back to legacy is garbage (browser/apps) as are many of it's apps. That is if they aren't already orphaned and deprecated.
