It's been 5 years since the death of Steve Jobs and their market cap is $586 billion.

Will Apple be able to do what Jobs did, introduce new product segments? What is the next segment for tech to break in to?
>>
Google
Just google
Microsoft and Apple have both been run to ths ground by the new CEOs
>>
They've been lackluster for a while now but if I was to guess, I guess they'll stick their paws into VR in a way or another. One thing is certain, though: It won't be cheap
>>
>>56241139

They would have killed it with self driving cars but Uber seems to have beat them to it by this point
>>
I think the next big breakthrough in tech will be home automation. Maybe a company will come up with a control box that can integrate legacy home systems, electric, hvac, lighting fairly easy at an attainable price point. We have the perfect control devices in our phones now.

I think the Nest showed that people have an appetite for smart home devices.
>>
>>56241249
>Uber
You mean Tesla?
>>
>>56241472
Even their dragon capsule look like some some apple product

>>
>>56241472

No Uber is closer to making driverless cars happen than Tesla since it acquired Otto. Thanks to Otto it potentially can turn most vehicles into driving autonomously with its toolkit
>>
>>56241139
>Will Apple be able to do what Jobs did
The iPod and the iPhone were the products that set them on the map, that's it.
Apple's brand will start to deteriorate since they haven't come up with anything new in years.
>>
I wonder how many nerds Apple sends to Joshua Tree to trip balls on mushrooms and acid every week in an attempt to generate new idess
>>
>>56243021
>trips on acid
>comes up with a totalitarian system to sell software tied to hardware

Deep down, Jobs was a fascist, and a narcissist at that. Also an only child used to getting his way

Apple got all their "revolutionary" tech from the US military once it needed to turn a profit

At the end of the day, if it wasn't them it would be someone else
>>
>>56241139
> Apple do what jobs did
They can, but I don't want them to do so.
>>
What happens if a company goes the opposite direction of everyone else and makes a phone OS and hardware that includes encryption. Along with it email that includes encryption. Like basically an anti Google company.

Does the USgov make sure they don't get off the ground?
>>
>>56241249
The problem is that you can't ship really bad products with cars.

Exploding laptops? Bendable phones with no antennas? That's OK.

But do the same with cars and people will die.

The only way for Apple do get into cars is to get a partner that actually knows how to build cars (i.e. not Tesla).

I'd love to see Apple invest everything into cars, and then crash and burn with it in a blaze of faggotry.

I'd be OK with that too, if it only meant that macfags would die.
But they will also kill decent people in accidents.

Maybe when you aren't in a dorm room and out of your parents house you'll appreciate technology helping you run a household.

They really haven't made any big changes to their products in years.

Even the shills can't run around it anymore, the reviews went from buzzwords like "creative, innovative, new" to "trusted, true to roots design, the design we all know and love etc"

Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak were truly brilliant people. The whole of the tram who developed the Macintosh were brilliant people.

Since Steve Jobs passed away Apple has when the wut ay way it did when Steve Jobs forced out and Steve Wozniak quit in 1985.

Apple will do great for a few more years because of the iPhone but Android will continue to take away their market share for one reason alone..........price.

I don't own any Apple products but and I know the Macintosh is a far better patform than Windows.

I use Linux based computers mainly. If I had a use for a Macintosh such as recording music I would buy one.

For 90% of the computing tasks most people do on a daily basis you can use whatever platform and it will be fine.
>>
>>56245356
What is Wozniak doing these days?
>>
>>56245397
Living in Australia and doing TV commercials

He did enough by 1985 when he left Apple Computers to justify himself as a computer legend.

Incidentally the same year apple became shit.

Musk/Tesla and Google are the news rulers.

Yes, the stack of audio of windows sucks, but you put ASIO and here and is equal or better at music producing.

No. The truth is nobody can do what Jobs did. Jobs WAS Apple.

Without him, Apple is slowly but surely fading into obscurity.

The whole reason Apple is how they are is the image they give themselves and their promotion. Both of those were given and maintained by Steve Jobs.

In the early days of Apple, that wasn't what happened.

Steve Jobs really only mellowed out on his personal antics like that after he got booted out of Apple and ran NeXT.

I don't agree. If Apple can go on a spending spree to secure a la carte programming from key networks they can put cable in the grave. Everyone hates their cable company and all their channels. They want a cheaper price and like 25-50 channels.

Though I think Google will accomplish this once their fiber infrastructure is in place. And I think Google is more evil than Satan himself.
>>
>>56246933
Hubbard wrote everything who one needs to run scientology. Jobs no.
>>
>>56247536

Pick one.
>>
>>56247593
Most people oh HD cable or Sat are paying around $80 or so in the US. If they can have a la carte that comes in at $50 or $60 for 40 channels of your choice I think people will jump at it.

>>

Just no. It might have low latency but you still cant play audio from different sources
>>
>>56248337
If you mean hardware then yeah maybe some Apple TV/dvr box is $200 but when you will save $400 in your first year vs cable or sat I think people will still accept that.

>breaks every year with lagOS updates

Uber is only a stepping stone. Once we have self-driving cars you'll just rent them by the mile, you won't need to own one, especially in a major metro.
>>
>>56248572
Oh, you're just shitposting. My mistake for trying to have a normal conversation. Enjoy your week.
