Does Apple respect my privacy?
>>56240522
More than Microsoft
Less than Free Software
yes
>apple fights for your rights and even defies the federal government
>microsoft willingly and pre-emptively shares all your private data with the NSA
>>56240538
basically this. google, microsoft, facebook, and other tech companies generally have huge stakes in advertising. many sell hardware, but their primary income is from ads.
apple has its business flipped. as a result, there's no (apparent) motivation for them to track you or otherwise infringe on your privacy.

not at all

Not really worried about that sort of thing because if the feds want your info, they'll get it no matter what.
More interested in if Apple will track everything I do and put it in a database.
No but Raspberry does.

>Apple fights for your rights
>fights
>for you
Pajeet pls, no company fights for anyone except share holders. It's just public relations management. Even Ebil overlord Microsoft does the same PR stunt in China
>>56240823
yes, but if you don't appreciate that your interests are (coincidentally) aligned with apple's and not aligned with microsoft, then you're either acting like an idiot or not acting.
the fact that microsoft resists chinese influence is one of those "gee whiz" details. it doesn't add anything to my life. i'm not chinese. it has no bearing on my privacy, especially when microsoft cooperates so eagerly with american law enforcement (nullifying any implied policy about resisting governments).

>More interested in if Apple will track everything I do and put it in a database.
Your ISP is more likely to do that than Apple.
To Apple it would be an avoidable expense.
>>56240538
This. But they would still not interfere if an American agency wants access to your computer. Basically they don't actively send your data online like Microsoft does with Windows 10, but they still have some backdoors. The only reason I dislike apple is because they're kinda close minded when it comes to hardware/software. You're pretty much limited to their stuff and can't change anything, that's why I choose "free software". As for your personal info, anything you search using popular search engines (Google) is recorded, and as >>56240865 said, your ISP also collects your browsing history.

>Applel defends a terrorist
>Cooperates with federal government to get a digital piracy website owner arrested.
Why does applel hate america?
>>56240919
Terrorists don't threaten Apple's business.
Copyright infringement ("""piracy""") does threaten their business.
>>56240987
>Literal terrorists killing people are not as important as someone downloading a movie or song for free.
>>56241030
Profit is all that matters. Do you hate America, citizen?
>>56241049
I'm not jewish, so I have a moral compass and don't put profit over human lives.
