Ignore the shitty monitor. I intend on getting a high refresh rate 2k Monitor for actual gaming, and use the current one as a secondary.

Those 45nm xeons still kick ass, I had the old Q6660, got an FX8350 and didnt evne notice a difference in normal usage, it just renders 1080p faster and gets higher frames.

I noticed that too, maybe in the nehalem days where DDR3 was the new shit, it made sense, but by 2011 you should have 1600mhz in your 32nm rig.

Speccy reads your CPU name, the stock clockspeed is actually the hardcoded name for the CPU.
The full name of your CPU is i7 6700k @ 4.00GHz

If you open up the CPU tab it will show your OC.

Theres actually little difference between those and the i7-4790k. I looked into it as i was in the market for a new cpu.
For the extra money they aint worth getting performance gain wise

The newer platform is worth it if you're buying new.

If you have a 4790k itd be retarded to upgrade to a 6600k/6700k, HOWEVER moving from AMD to Intel, the 6600k/6700k makes far more sense, the decreased latency in windows, better M.2/U.2 support, in PURE CPU power, you're right they aren't all that different.


But if you're buying a computer to last you for 4-5 years or longer, you want to pay attention to more than just PURE CPU power, in this case you're looking at DDR4 support, USB 3.1/Type-C, etc.


Z170 with a 6600k/6700k makes far more sense than a 4790k and Z97. You'd save maybe $50 but you'd be stuck on a platform from early 2014.

As well as any high-end build with a 980. However, some games have trouble dealing with 32 threads so I have to set a limit 8 threads in order for them to even start. It's not like anything uses more than that.

Pretty old but the GT210 card actually helps,I can at least play GTA IV on it. But usually I play old 1990-2005 games on it,rarely anything newer.

my GPU (which is integrated in the CPU) is alternating between 0, 1 and 2°C today (blank=0 i assume) while the CPU alternates between 50 and 70 while idling

it basically starts at a random value and then increases or decreses by 1°/s until the cap

RAM speed is fine, 668MHz is 1336MHz DDR3

Your CPU name is what is listed there, if you overclocked your CPU it will only show the OC'd speed under the CPU tab specifically.

and Speccy hasn't been updated for hardware since like november of last year or before, so don't be shocked it fucks up on vRAM on the new 10xx series.
