MPV just werks, it doesn't need settings.
I actually prefer the GUI over MPC-HC's, since it includes easy audio track and subtitle switching buttons.

Slightly better rendering, but I use MPC-HC over MPV because I appreciate the GUI a lot more than any of the MPV frontends.

MPV is god tier on lower hardware in particular, but don't think you're missing out on anything because everybody shills it. MPV really shines on Linux because it is just miles ahead of everything else. (Frontends in particular give it a lot of MPC-HC functionality)

bomi is a fork. It's not bad or anything, it's just not MPV.

Use SMPlayer if you want the full MPV experience. I've never tried bomi personally, but I question what i need to get out of a video player

I like MPV, but the OSC showing on mouse movement is very inconsistent and unpredictable.

It pisses me off sometimes. Why can't it just werk like VLC?
