Im getting a TB for backup but i also need more regular storage, should i get 2 individual TB drives or get like a 2TB, 6TB, or more
>>
get multiple 6TB drives.
>>
like 2 drives but im not sure if i should get a second larger one

you should get multiple large drives and use them in a RAID 1 or similar mirroring configuration to give you some protection in the event of a hardware failure.

this isn't that complicated. the parameters you gave make it really clear what you should do. if there are constraints you forgot to mention, like a budget or space constraints, then you should try going off on your own, making a list of those constraints, and then coming back. we can't help you if you're handing us new roadblocks every time we suggest an obvious answer to you.

I have $200 to spend. but $400 in a immediate stash if i need it

i don't know what "need" is in your context. are you storing porn or your PhD thesis and corresponding research data on this drive? is this $400 saved up over the course of a year or part of a monthly budget for discretionary expenses?

this costs ~150 shipped. buy 2 and mirror them. i'm assuming this data is important to you and that the money is less valuable to you than the data. if this doesn't resonate with you, one super neat thing you can do is give us more information. i can't fathom why you would be so deliberately vague with your question except to bait people into ideating as many choices as possible.

if your next post isn't 3 or more full sentences detailing your use case/needs, don't expect me to bother to continue helping you. this is a waste of time.

I like to have my backup drive be the size of my main storage drive, with smaller ones in addition.

Right now I have a 4TB primary storage drive, a 4TB backup drive, 2x 1TB external drives, and then another ~1TB in misc drives. Redundancy is the key.

What are the cheapest cost per GB drives right now? Is it 3TB?
>>
>>56234787
yeah, but 4TB drives are catching up and are much more reliable than 3TB drives

literally the first result on google

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
