Battlestation thread.
I just got a new function generator and a bigger desk, so I wanted to share :3
>>56234124
I really want a O-scope :(. I have a lot of audio projects I want to measure and I want one to debug serial comm's / I2C or SPI.
>>56234151
I feel you. I got one because I work with high frequency switching circuits and RF astable oscillators a lot in my line of work.
Get an old analog one from the 80s/90s. They're neat, cheap, and they'll last a long time.
>>56234124
it does seem kinda cramped, but good on you for having a workshop as opposed to the "man cave" full of children's toys most people on here have
This is my testing/debugging set up.
Siglent SDG2042X function generator
Vizatek MOS2620 oscope
Triplett DMM
RSR HY1802D Variable DC power supply
Elenco briefcase breadboard and digital/analog logic tester
Arduino Uno with breadboard (circuit on there is a PWM driven boosting switching voltage regulator)
>>56234222
Yeah, it is a little cramped, but I actually just got a bigger desk. My old setup was even worse. Pic related.
I actually have room to construct and test now, as opposed to one or the other.
first ever build, r8/h8. also in the other thread
>>56234311
This is where I have more space to solder/breadboard stuff.
>>56234311
what are you parents' occupations?
P sure theres already one up
Looks like a nice desk, OP, are you planning any projects or just a general "want! want!" purchase?
>>56234124
YES
this is the kind of shit i want on my battlestation threads.
>>56234350
Oh shit, I searched the catalog for battlestation and battle station but nothing popped up.
This is now a workshop/work station general.
Post workshops and talk about analog/digital circuitry I guess.
>>56234345
Judge and insurance adjuster. I moved out last year after dropping out of school to start my own company. It's gone p well since then.
>>56234362
They're for actual projects. I'm building a PIC controlled driver for a crystal transducer. Inputting certain prompts into a UI will adjust the waveform that the driver outputs.
It's tricky to do all that on a system that runs off a small battery at less than 2.5W.
>>56234350
Why have three 144hz screens?
>>56234487
Cause i cant go back now. I had one and the two sides were 60hz. I hated it.
>>56234124

>anon fell for the 144hz meme
There's literally no difference between 60 and 144 unless you're doing fast paced shit like racing or fps games.
And even then, you'll need a solid system with multiple GPUs to hit anything above 60 fps, probably not even possible at 3 monitor resolution.
144hz is a huge meme.
>>56234189
I want all those fancy new features tho, like FFT and easy monitoring of serial comms and the like... I dont need a touch screen tho, that shits retarded.

My old DE professor had this model of o-scope and claimed it was the best thing on the market for what it was worth.
Go for it, anon. Buying an o-scope makes circuit prototyping 100 times easier. Trust me on this.

Nice clock

>>56234912
No because i'm not dumb enough to spend all that extra money just to watch my mouse cursor move faster. That's pretty much the only thing you can do with it.

>>56234848
How is the speed on it? I have a good friend who deos a lot with FPGA's and vidoe signals, he has a similar model that he hacked to be a much better one, however the response to the controls is still very slow.
>>56234849
Make one.

Almost good rig bro, almost.

why didn't you show the other side of your desk?

manage your cables better, also
>that one dollar bill
>>56235678
I have velcro cable ties on their way from Amazon, just waiting on USPS.
>>56235754
good option, but if that side table/desk wasn't so bare, you could easily hide the cables behind it
>>56235781
Yep, but unfortunately it is wide open, so cable ties it is. It'll be pretty when I am done, just a single bundle.
Posted this a while ago. Its something.
>>56234124
Bonus: 3D printer just finished a print. QIDI Tech II - pretty decent for a chinese clone of an American clone of a Makerbot.
>>56235678
Nothing really interesting on the other side. Just a tablet.
>>56235969
what is the purpose of that small monitor..
>>56236116
Its 23" (not huge I know but fine for web browsing). It just looks small next to the TV. I browse on the small screen and watch media on the TV usually.

>>56235620
That's weird, the RAM i bought said 2133, what could be wrong?
>>56237186
He's retarded or fucking with you.
Speccy reports DDR speeds at their Undoubled frequency. So 2133MHz says 1066MHz in speccy.
Just how my 3200MHz says 1599MHz in speccy.
Messy and in the midst of being redone, just picked up the monitor arm today and I'm in love with it.

I like the setup. There's something subtle about that dark neutral grey theme. I like to combine grey with bright anomaly colors, like a salmon/grey theme.
>>56237208
Why does it double? Is each chip 1066 which totals to a combined 2133?
>>56237403
Each clock edge is referred to as a beat, with two beats (one upbeat and one downbeat) per cycle. Technically, the hertz is a unit of cycles per second, but many people refer to the number of transfers per second. Careful usage generally talks about "500 MHz, double data rate" or "1000 MT/s", but many refer casually to a "1000 MHz bus," even though no signal cycles faster than 500 MHz.
>>56234329
Pretty good computer, but what the fuck is up with your setup? an end table with a fold out table under it. you look like you're in your living room.
>>56237140

and to be more cute.
>>56237535
>and to be more cute.
hey that's pretty rude dude.
>>56237482
So basically that TV is the only usable screen in my room. Underneath the stand are speakers w/ sub and a PS4. I decided to keep all gaming things in one place, and the stand is not large enough so I put a table in front of it. I can't really buy a new stand, and I don't want to move the TV to my work desk because then the PS4 will have to come along. Ergonomically speaking, there is no problem with the setup. Aesthetically, there's nothing I can really do about it rn.
>>56237592
Besides, the screen is 32 inches and if I'm too close it fucks my eyes up. That table gives me the distance I need and is the perfect height for keyboards
