I'm still using a Core 2 Duo and it works great for light web browsing. I'm the kind of guy who doesn't upgrade until something breaks for becomes unbearably slow with the latest software. I even do some light gaming on this PC.

Protip, the majority of application's don't utilize the other 7 cores. Most applications are single threaded, and if you're lucky dual threaded. Meaning they'll only utilize one or two cores. So two very efficient cores will always beat 8 in real world usage. Not to mention the overhead in managing 8 cores

Everyone take in mind that apple make their phones slower every update they do, soon the iPhone 6 will be running like an iPhone 4 and you cant really prevent it. With "lagdroid" phones you can root them to prevent Google from slowly raping your phone.
